  1. When it comes to seasons you can't talk dates without also discussing bag limits.
  2. Are you ready for this?? The books says"23 days beginning the third Saturday of November" which would be Nov. 16th this year. Page 35. So everyone is correct again
  3. We need a 2019 "Live From The Woods". Thought maybe with the cold front & high winds coming through they may be moving. Grabbed the caller and went out for an hour before dark with no responses. I guess I'll just have to sit on the deck since we have tracks all over the yard.
  4. I contact my senator on any issue I don't agree with...especially on gun control. Unfortunately he is a republican and is now part of the minority. EVERYONE needs to fight the battle even if it is with a simple e-mail for phone call. Especially those with Democratic representation.
  5. Just my .02 cents but as men I don't think it is any of our business. I know I will never have an abortion and doubt many of you will. That's a discussion women should be having and deciding on not us OR KING CUOMO.

In Spring 2018, multiple plastic, five-gallon buckets were dumped on the Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area. The product in the buckets was consistent with a chemical historically used as a pesticide for preserving wood products. Anyone with information that could assist with the investigation is encouraged to call DEC, Bureau of Environmental Crimes Investigation, Region 8 Avon Office, at (585) 226-5484. You would be correct. I looked at the map wrong. Go figure...I grew up in that area. I can't delete this one but can add to 7R where it belongs. Thanks
  8. While most canines can be trained to track down antlers, here are a few shed hunting dog breeds you can't go wrong with. Labrador Retriever. ... Pointer. ... American Foxhound. ... Beagle. ... German Shorthaired Pointer. ... Bloodhound. ... Golden Retriever. ... Weimaraner. https://www.amazon.com/Dokken-Antler-Hunting-Training-Handbook/dp/B01MTNA1GR
  9. I know it is done but I wouldn't be advertising that. Illegal as hell
  10. Most hound, beagle , and coyote dog owners do not want their dogs running anything other than the game they are pursuing. Running deer is taboo and most go to great efforts to break their dogs from running deer. Some coyote dogs will also run fox but for the most part it is undesirable to have a dog run "off" game.
  11. Definitely a dog. Pretty fat for a feral probably out for it's last pee of the night.
  12. I guess you have to define success. I have done both and until recently found the night time to be more productive simply for the fact that is when they hunt. I have yet to shoot a coyote in the daytime while calling but have had them walk right past me during deer season. I have called & shot fox in the daytime, coyotes at night, and shot coyotes over dogs but have never called one in during the day. I would have to agree with grampy that daytime could be more fun for a lot of reasons. Up until a couple of years ago night hunting was the only way to go. But now with everybody and their brother owning a caller it's gets more difficult every year day or night and I don't think it makes a big difference when you go. Hunt when you can and hope for the best. Your success will depend a lot on how much other hunting pressure is in the area.
  13. Eating Crow is never fun I don't care who you are
  14. It is not fit for man or beast in these winds. 30-40 mph gusts here with temperature dropping to about 6 over night. Just glad I don't live in or near Watertown.

  17. Lawmakers are actually doing something. Nothing for the tax payers, but something: NY Capitol News NY lawmakers pass Jose Peralta New York State DREAM Act ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10/AP) - The New York Senate and Assembly both passed the Jose Peralta New York State DREAM Act on Wednesday. The legislation allows undocumented children who are already students in the state to qualify for state aid for higher education. It also creates a fund for college scholarship opportunities and removes barriers that prevent undocumented families from college saving programs. Senate Republicans criticized the passage saying "it will reward law-breaking illegal immigrants with free college tuition." https://www.news10.com/news/ny-capitol-news/ny-senate-passes-jose-peralta-new-york-state-dream-act/1719758339
