  1. If one get's hit by a car, can you gut it and tag it ? I'd venture to say not too many nassau cops are familar with the laws, or even deer-car accidents.
  2. there protected in that area. only DEC sharp shooters can take them at night by jack lighting.
  3. hot air rises, with the odor, so it's doubtful a deer would notice it on the ground.
  4. They say the velocity of the .243 is so fast, that the exit hole is like an orange.
  5. would you hunt bear over bait in canada or maine? go to huntingnet.com, and many guys are crying the deer are not hitting their bait.
  6. what do you guys do with that silver membrane lining? do you cook it off, or cut it off?
  7. I just compared a Long Island deer that ate the farmers grapes until the farmer shot him, to an upstate deer that lived in the woods. No question the grape eating deer tasted better.
  8. Just to let you know, I threw away the entire deer. The sulfur odor from the meat was nasty, nasty. purtrid. Wasn't worth getting sick over. And the butcher was clueless, and I'll never go back to him.
  9. I gave them to the inlaws
  10. The velocity knocks them over, and the exit wounds are BIG.
  11. you need a permit to burn garbage. you see smoke, call the fire dept immdiately. It's not a false report. you don't need to investigate the source.
  12. Usually the bank pays the taxes, so it doesn't doesn't loose the parcel for back taxes. How many acres is it?
  13. I've seen that upstate NY, state land parking lot, rotting carcass. looked like they cut the backstraps out, and a few other cuts of meat, and dumped the rest. and no tags on the carcass, so he could hunt another day. looks very wasteful, as much of the mean was left behind.
  14. Watch out for the LI ticks.
  15. I couldn't shoot bucky after becoming emotionally attached with pictures that's like before and after pictures hanging over the mantle. here's bucky alive, and now he's here dead.
  16. I have a 2 acre parcel I could hunt with plenty of deer, but not nice neighbors. The cops say, if the deer expires on the neighbor’s property, they are responsible for the carcass. So usually they will let you on the property to recover your harvest. But it's not worth the hassle of calling the cops to intervene on my behalf.

    Cutlets

What I do now.... is the butcher only does things one way, so when I get home, I seperate all the packages, and re-wrap them into smaller packages. it's a PITA. But I do it before it's frozen, so it's not too bad.
  18. are you sure your from NY Long Island, and Sullivan county.

    Cutlets

I am the only one in the house that eats venison, so I need to wrap it in small packages. if I freeze a big roast, who else is eating it when it defrosts?

    Cutlets

http://alltaxidermyinc.com/butchering.html I just looked at his web site. 70% cutlets. and 30% whatever. it's $40 plus tax extra, I can't even imagine 70% cutlets. I can see the backstraps being sliced thin, as I would do anyway. but I don't know what else.
