  1. Do guys use harnesses on 10' ladder stands with safety/shooting rails? I inherited a couple on my property. They are well secured to the trees with straps, but I haven't used them yet.
  2. Perhaps the deer were paying him protection money. Then one winter, he leaned on the wrong buck.
  3. Are you the result of a private education? If so, someone owes you a hell of a refund.
  4. Damn, kid. Could you at least try? HBO is valued at approx 30B which is a big part of why AT&T is buying TW for 85B.
  5. There are a number of smaller factors but basically, Bill Maher is on HBO because he makes money for HBO. When that changes, his show will be cancelled. It's not complicated. Until then, please enjoy this highlight from his film career.
  6. The greatest reason of all ... love. America is a great country but that doesn't make Canada a lousy one. I don't think you've travelled the world enough to have an opinion about the multiple reasons people become expats.
  7. I'm from Toronto and visit yearly. I've also lived in the third world. There are many ways you can describe Toronto (both good and bad) but "3rd world hell-scape" ain't one of them.
  8. The Ithaca subforum on SGW is worth a view: https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=59 Some folks who worked at the factory post occasionally. Nice gun.
  9. Damn, are there really that many lonely, angry, self-marginalized guys who set up cameras in a corner of their living rooms and record ridiculous screes just to be heard and feel a little less sad? This is not the world we're supposed to be living in.
  10. I drive a 14-year-old bare bones truck and every time I get into a new vehicle I feel like a time traveller whisked to the future. The technology is crazy cool these days. Nice truck.
  11. The moron scout "leaders" who pushed over the goblin rock received probation. They were let go by the scouts but I doubt it affected them much past that. I'm sure they're still sticking to their story about it being a public safety hazard.
  12. The guy was on a tear: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/03/us/yellowstone-bison-harassed-arrested.html
  13. Rule #1 in bear country - don't leave food in your car.
  14. https://youtu.be/fULNUr0rvEc
  15. Me: stairs not escalators / park at the back of the lot not the nearest spot / splitting maul not log splitter / lawnmower not riding mower / wheelbarrow not UTV / three cups of kale+blueberries+maca+various other healthy stuff in place of one meal a day not fried food / standing not sitting / water not sugar water / reading paper not screens. Could use more yoga, cardio and weights. And fewer desserts and whisky.
  16. Excessive shitty processed food ... largely sedentary lifestyle ... general physical and mental laziness ... addiction to the internet and media ... lack of respect and empathy to others ... lowering of standards across nearly every aspect of life. It will be a miracle if we're not Eloi in three generations.
  17. Go downtown on garbage night. Kick a bag.
  18. A couple of years ago I was pitching a show on a group who hunted rats with dogs in lower NYC. Couldn't get a bite. https://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/22/nyregion/in-manhattan-alleys-owners-send-their-dogs-on-a-rat-hunt.html
  19. Easy enough to drop some veg into the area, sit back with a beer and watch what eats it. Personally, I'd lose the carp as they are always rooting up mud. Another algae option is to float a bale of barley straw in the pond, though it may be too late in the season for that. I did it last year and saw zero algae in the August bloom time.
  20. Walter Lingo used the team as a gimmick to promote his dogs and kennel. He developed a line of larger Airedales and marketed them as the finest utilitarian dogs of the time. Pretty controversial today with many breeders trying to capitalize on the Oorang name. http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/w/King_Oorang_Airedales
  21. If you're ever in the city try and hit the Explorers Club on an event night as they offer a tour of the trophy room. Among the mounts is a cheetah that Teddy Roosevelt shot in 1904. No cats, primates, elephants, whales, predators, songbirds, butterflies, pixies or bigfeet.
  22. I do. If your hand is anything like Steve Austin's, I'm screwed.
