  1. More or less. And they advocated for a change in rating. Rango made the anti-smokers lose their minds as it had 60 incidents of smoking and was rated PG. They believe that any movie with smoking should be rated R.
  2. That's not "Hollywood", it's anti-smoking groups that have pressured the MPPA, broadcasters and advertisers to include the warning since 2007. Hollywood collectively (if you can say such a thing) doesn't care. They're in the business to make money and to occasionally create a piece of filmic art.
  3. "Anything so innocent and built like that just gotta be named Lucille." If you haven't seen Cool Hand Luke, put it on your list. Great movie with at least six good quotable lines.
  4. To be honest, I feel a lot better after I eat a big salad than a large plate of meat. And I also have my own personal line when it comes to killing certain animals (all elephants are safe from me) so I have no issue with someone drawing a different line. I may not even have an issue with legally screwing with someone's business. There are no ends of boycotts and protests of companies who come out against hunters or guns from this side of the fence. Anyway, I reached out to him to thank him for an elegant non-confrontational response that perfectly captured his legal, ethical and sustainable approach to food. Nice guy. I think he's getting a lot of support.
  5. Looked into this a little more. The chef (among others) is trying hard to serve wild game at his restaurant. Quebec is letting a few chefs try. Not sure this one is a hit.
  6. They take their protests pretty seriously in my old hometown. I wonder if these young kids know that Toronto's nickname is "Hogtown" due to the size of the pork processing companies of the 1800s.
  7. This could be the trigger for our Morlock/Eloi future.
  8. @Birdhunter Nice dog but you have to ID the gun as well.
  9. Wait until the Lone Star Tick gets here and passes on the alpha-gal allergy. Say goodbye to the local burger joint and hello to quiche patisseries.
  10. Consider a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. http://www.gundogmag.com/breeds/gundog_breeds_gd_retriever_1009/
  11. Why does this not surprise me? Bulletproofed butter coffee is one of the more bullshit fad diets scams out there.
  12. I know, it's terrible. I instinctively know where to put the credenza in a room, have impeccable table manners and can sing all the songs of West Side Story. One time, some young friends asked for a recommendation for a guy movie and I suggested 12 Angry Men. They were a little disappointed. Oh well, we all have to live with our limitations, don't we?
  13. I doubt I embody many traits of "real manness" though I would like to kick Watters in the vagina so perhaps that qualifies. But whatever the cliched metric is, I probably know more "pussies and wimps" that eat burgers than those who like quiche. Coincidentally, I ordered this the other day:
  14. What the hell is wrong with NPR? I receive two radio stations at my camp - NPR and a golden oldies channel. While the latter gets my toes tapping, NPR keeps me sane on the long lonely nights. Someone, please point me in the direction of these anti-hunting major network media reports. Flamingo is reportedly delicious. Scald the flamingo, wash and dress it, put it in a pot, add water, salt, dill, and a little vinegar to be parboiled. Finish cooking with a bunch of leeks and coriander, and add some reduced must [grape juice] to give it color. In the mortar crush pepper, cumin, coriander, laser root, mint, rue, moisten with vinegar, add dates, and the fond [drippings] of the braised bird, thicken, strain, cover the bird with the sauce and serve. ~ Apicius 6.231 Fewer not less.
  15. Me too. From behind the wheel is an amazing way to see the world.
  16. I'm not going to get in the middle of family feuds. But if you want to one-up them consider an EarthCruiser. Here's one for 265,000.00 http://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/190839-2015-EarthCruiser-EXP-21-200-miles-265-000-00 They do have a rabid following. I think the last year of FJ Cruisers (2014) are going for more money than list. There's a reason that the only vehicles you see in the harsher terrain of Africa, Asia or Australia with 300K+ miles are Toyotas.
  17. Would you consider a Toyota LC? Take a look at ih8mud: https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/uzj100-lx470.329/ https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/vdj200-lx570.280/ Here's a 2015 tank: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2015-land-cruiser-well-equipped.1047844/
  18. I'm so ignorant of this subject that I clicked expecting to see one an updated claw hand. Incredible technology. Thanks for sharing. I just happen to be working on a show about a Catskill mountain man and one of his old friends used to be the caretaker for Peg Leg Bates' resort, the only all-black resort in the Catskills. Peg Leg Bates was a famous one-legged tap dancer.
  19. It's a nutty world. Next thing you know a reality TV star will become president.
  20. Thanks, SJ. I'm nervous as hell walking the borders of my property during rifle season as I'm half expecting this to happen every time I step on a stick.
  21. @Steuben Jerry If you don't mind sharing, how did this confrontation go down and what was the result? Thanks. I too wear a lot of orange on my property as I am surrounded by hunters, some with little sense of boundaries.
  22. In a time where people feel compelled to share every bowel movement, I doubt few could resist snapping a pic over a dead squatch. But yes, if you play it right you could petition that the specific name be yours. Or name it Graboid in honour of Walter Chang.
