In Desperate Need of Region 1C DMP Doe Tag
rachunter replied to longislandbowhunter's topic in Region 1
I'm not sure if they change it,but you could use your bow/muz ether sex tag as long as you shoot does only they'll renew it once you shoot a buck it's void.Like I said i'm not sure if they change the rules,so to confirm it with them. -
Saw this on another site. Not hunting related just some awesome skills.

awesome thanks me and my brother are heading up for the early bow Wednesday night.

Are those temps. correct ?

I'd never buy a new bow. There's a lot of good ones that get sold for cheap. Some guys have to have the latest others buy a good one then decide hunting isn't for them.I bought mine new in 2011 and it was discontinued in 2012, It still shoots great I also had my second bow for 20+ years and only sold it because of my bad wrists.

This is how I came across this website, doing research on packing out deer in the ADK's.I bought a badlands pack designed for packing out game. The problem with it is i'm short[5'5"] there packs and most other company's are designed for people 5'7" or better. The damn thing rested on my hips no matter what I did.Luckly there a great company and helped me out even though I ended up with another company's pack fram. I haven't had the opportunity to use it,but I think i'm ready gear and plan wise.If time allows i'm going to debone bag up and pack out.If time is tight i'm going to debone the front half and pack out the back legs whole.Sounds good on paper but remains to be done.Hopefully this year!!!

I just noticed your on long island.I trapped and moved 14 coons when I first moved into my house in Patchogue. Then I gave up they never thinned out.I'd be more worred about cracking off a round then dumping a few in the parks. Drowning is quick and easy a better option.

If your going to use a have a heart trap why not take it for a ride. Twenty miles or more if you can get a river or major highway in between even better,But to answer your question one behind the ear like they do in Brooklyn yo [sorry couldn't resist]

Been trying to lose some poundage,so I’ve stayed away from this thread as much as possible. Stinking ten pounds in two months. Treat for today shell steak and Brussels sprouts with onions.

Distances you've killed deer with ? Archery that is
rachunter replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
Furthest was 42 yards 31 feet up. Average 15-25 yards 18-20 feet up.a good range finder comes in handy if you not hunting from the same spot all the time. -
Anyone else hunt squirrels with a handgun?
rachunter replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I know it depends on the shooter but what’s the average distance you guys take a shot at a squirrel with a pistol? I’ve been trying to setup my single six for 20-25 yard shots with no luck. I’m thinking I might be asking to much out of myself. -
I have a new problem under my house. Not only does it eat the mouse bait but it also eats the mice in the bucket trap. After trying to catch it in a have-a-heart trap with no luck I made a few weasel boxes to give a shot. Really don’t want to kill it but it cleans out the mouse bait faster then I can replace it.

rachunter replied to fludwig171's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
Man that would be a nice squirrel gun.Wish I would've seen this last week when I was up there. If this is still around on my next trip up i'll get in touch with you for sure. -
I never used it for anything but leaves and brush locally. one yard at a time isn't going to cut it.There where no tags when I bought it[used] Thanks guys might have to get rid of this one and get a dump trailer.

Have you or someone you know ever shot a deer with gang green
rachunter replied to rob-c's topic in Deer Hunting
I'm not sure it was the same thing everyone is talking about, but a few years ago I gave a butcher friend of mine a deer.He said when he cut the back leg up it had green puss in it.He told me green puss with a bad stink is cancer in beef.I never seen it before and hopefully never will. -
I have a 5x8 hualmaster utility trailer. i'm not sure how much it can hold. last weekend I brought about 4 yards of compost up to my place. The ride was a nightmare the tires where rubbing on the fenders so I took them off. Then the trailer was swaying back and fourth if I went over 50mph.Someone at work suggested switching out the cheap tires for radials and adding a leaf spring kit.The thing I'm not sure about is if I add the leafs that say 3000lbs. per spring would the trailer be able to hold 6000lbs? A yard of compost is roughly 1000lbs.

get well

If its real thick you can use that to your advantage by making paths go where you want the deer to move[pasted a treestand] I've done this for years and you'd be surprised how fast they start using them.I would make them wide enough for me and my gear to walk through without hitting any branches.
