How many bullets do you bring in the field when you hunt
Elmo replied to Deerstalker's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
My ammo wallet holds 10 so that's what I bring. My rifle holds 4+1 but I only load 2+1 so that leaves 7 in my wallet. -
I use pellets and I use 2 pellets (each 50 grains so a total of 100 grains). What ever you decide on, make sure you're consistent.

Things are kind of slow at Daddy/Husband duty Park. Drove the wife to her medical conferences (these doctors must be anti's to schedule the conference on opening day), drove home, did laundry because this guy decided to climb into our bed last night and create a scrape, bathe and fed the boy and change windshield wipers on the car. Haven't seen a deer all day. Didn't even hear any gun shots either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Did so once during gun season. Obliterated the rabbit. Won't do it again. Did so once during archery season. Never felt a need to do it again as it's simply not worth it. I always think there's a deer just behind a bush in the distance that might get spooked. Yet, still, I always carry a bludgeon tip broadhead in my quiver regardless. The closest I've come since then was taking the arrow off my quiver and holding it my hand thinking about nocking it but then I thought "Eff it...not worth it" and put the arrow back in my quiver.

@Zem18 - Thanks for the recipe. So you don't cut up the meat before throwing it into the crock pot? Will definitely give this a try one of these weekends.

Didn't even have to drag the deer.

weather for Sunday of the southern opener is looking good
Elmo replied to rob-c's topic in Deer Hunting
'Cept the opener is Saturday. But I can't go on Saturday anyway so Sunday's weather pertains more to me. -
And all roads in Rome ends up down some narrow alley way.

That's more than one word.

Hook me up with a crock pot stew recipe, please! My stews always comes out bland or super salty and my potatoes are mushed.

I once shot a deer at around 4PM and I had a partner with me. He bought our gear back while I started the drag. He got back to the car, drop things off and came back while I was still half way with the drag and he helped me some the rest of the way. Between the drag, the drive back, the butchering, we didn't finish till around 12:30AM. Pack a sled or cart. Pack less gear. Be prepared to make multiple trips to and from your car. Bottom line...don't pull the trigger unless you're willing to put in the work.

All options already mentioned are viable. I would avoid Holland Tunnel like the plague. George Washington Bridge to Brooklyn Battery Tunnel is the most expensive option if that is a concern to you but probably the fastest I think.

Remington 700 VTR in 308. Haven't had time to perfect a load I like so I'll just stick with Remington Core-Lokts this year.

You just have to pick the right Indian food. Just like any cultural cuisine, there are many varying flavors. If you don't like a curry, then go with a saag dish which is more savory or a korma dish which is sweeter. That said, Indian food is purposely made very strong flavored because it is meant to be diluted with rice or naan. And if you haven't had coconut raisin naan, you're missing out.
