  1. I have been hunting with a small group since 1985 or so and only 2 of us have ever seen a bear. My buddy shot one in Onoville in 1990 or so and I was fortunate to take the first bear I have ever seen hunting this past gun season. We've all seen tracks several times, but to actually see a bear in the wild is amazing.
  2. I had it four or five years ago. I got in to see the doctor asap and got an injection for it... supposed to limit the physical outbreak. Excruciating pain for the first three months and the following six months the pain was just annoying. I don't wish shingles on anyone... the most painful thing I've ever experienced. The pain made me think of getting hit in the ribcage with a baseball bat in exactly the same spot several times a day for three months. Get your vaccination if you can... you do not want shingles!

  14. Absolutely! I prefer a less than medium rare for beef and venison but I make sure this bear meat gets cooked well-done. Trichinosis is not on my list of ailments to get! I will say though, even cooked well done, the bear meat has a fantastic flavor and without doubt, my favorite wild game meat. I only seasoned it with salt and pepper.
