I did pretty much the same thing that you did but it's 13' in the air. Search for "tajmahal" on the site and you can find pages of our homemade blinds. I have the buddy heater and the 20 pound tank as well. It lasted all season last year and it got used a lot.

My employer should be VERY happy that my bow was not in the back of my truck this morning otherwise I would have made a right to go to my land instead of the left to go to work. I think I deserve a raise for todays act of selflessness.

I would, guts are still lethal but it can take 12+ hours. If you can't follow their trail and it ends in a search look near water. They sometimes will lay in water to cool the burning sensation they are feeling.

I hate when they do that and they seem to do that A LOT! Congratulations!

What a fiasco for this evening hunt. Daughter and I so we need a double finally decide what stand to sit in and off we go around 1:45. Get to the stand get safety strapped in get the bow up and hung ready to rock and roll when we notice a tree 15 yards away is snapped 1/3 of the way through and is rocking back and forth. Oh heck no! Pack everything up and get out of dodge for plan B. Now we are in a box overlooking some food plots because it was a short walk from where we where.
