In one of our double sets with Haley this afternoon. Hunting the food today.
-
The wind we had this morning kept Haley and I home. We haven’t had a chance to get the blinds put up yet and the couple of double stands we have up aren’t good for a light south wind in the morning. Figured it would be better to wait till the afternoon than risk being busted this early in the season. Plenty of time at this point. Gonna get a few things done this morning and then take one of the blinds down this afternoon, pop it up and hunt it.

Haley and I are sitting this morning out. Wind is wrong for our morning double stands and we weren’t able to get the blinds out yet. This afternoon should be a different story. Good luck this morning guys.

CENTERPOINT SNIPER 370 CROSSBOW REVIEW
WNYBuckHunter replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I decided to keep the one I bought, and picked up the draw rope and sighted it in this morning. Man, what a great crossbow. Pretty quiet, great features and it is super accurate. I shot it out to 50 and had tennis ball sized groups off of a rest. Given the right conditions, 50 is doable with this bow. I picked up 3 Easton Bloodline arrows, 125gr field points and a set of Nockturnals as well. They shoot worlds better than the junk arrows it came with. At 30 yards, they were penetrating half way down the shaft on my large bag target. Im looking forward to popping some 125gr Rage Crossbow heads and getting into the woods with it this November. -
Correct, which is why I said it was cooked all the way through
-
Ive done them in a marinade and then cooked on the grill. I like my steaks rare as well, but the bear was very good even cooked all the way through.

A few years ago, one of the farmers was cleaning out his corn silo, and dumped 4 front loader buckets full of old corn that he dug out of the bottom, in the back edge of one of his cut corn fields. We stayed away from the area while hunting that year, but threw a camera up on it just to see what would come around. Never once did a mature buck go to that pile during the day. Does, fawns and small bucks, sure, but the big boys only came at night. Baiting isnt all its cracked up to be. I choose not to do it because its illegal. If it was, I would probably use it to some extent, like mineral blocks and whatnot for camera sites to make taking inventory of what deer are around a bit easier. That being said, I have gotten very good at camera locations for inventory purposes without using it, so I dont really care. I could care less if other people use bait, as long as they arent doing it on the property I hunt.

Bear steaks are delicious, you just have to cook it properly

In the interest of not taking away from our annual site thread, Im locking this one up.
-
That would just give me an excuse to buy a fabricated steel bumper.
-
Its taken out coyotes, been smashed on ruts and snowbanks before. The lower plate is all kinds of wadded up, but the bar and mounts have made it through just fine.

Thank you sir

Great choice in color. Looks a bit like my 2010 Sport
-
If his is the GXP version, your ZR1 (Im guessing it was a 90s C4 version) would have had all it could handle against that car.
-
Thats a G8, I think the last year for them was 2009 or 2010. Whenever it was that Pontiac went away. Its basically a left had drive Holden Commodore with slightly different body work. Same basic car as the current Chevy SS.
-
Yes they do. I actually live about 3 or 4 miles from there, Im just a pretty busy guy between work, 2 kids in hockey, we are currently house shopping and trying to get ready for deer season. Thanks for the offer though.

Exactly. I can buy a crossbow anywhere. I bought it from them because I try to support local businesses when I can and I had always had great experiences with them. I’m kinda wondering if the owner doesn’t know what’s going on. I will definitely let him know why I’m unhappy.
-
No. I’ll have to look them up. Thanks
-
Nah. Personal reasons that I won’t go into on here.
-
I won’t go to traditions.

The 4th I think. It wasn’t that I wanted to hunt with it right away, it’s more of a I don’t want to give my money to a business that’s going to irritate me like that. I’ll buy something at Field And Steam. At least I know when they will be open lol.

So a week and a half ago I picked up a Crosman Sniper 370 at Bullzeye Archery. I have always had great experiences with the shop and it’s owner. This time when I went, the owner wasn’t there and it was getting close to closing time, but I needed to get a few good arrows, lighted nocks and field tips for it. The two people that were there didn’t stop talking about how they couldn’t wait to close, and rushed me out as quickly as they could. In the process, they neglected to give me the cocking rope, and one of the arrows had the wrong nock (which is glued in and can’t be removed). After I got home and started messing with things, I discovered I couldn’t get the nock out to replace it with a lighted one, I didn’t have the cocking rope in with the rest of the stuff, and the scope wasn’t mounted correctly. This, along with being rushed out of there, had me a little annoyed. No biggie though, I’d stop there the next chance I had to get things straightened out. The following Tuesday, I stop in after work only to find a sign that said “closed Tuesday”. That was not there a few days before, but ok. Today I checked their hours, and they were open until 6. I stopped after work, arriving at 5:45. I walked up to the door, it was locked. I went up to the Outdoor Store to see if anyone was up there. That too had been closed early. Now I am pissed. It’s only days before the bow opener, and the flipping bow shop is not only open till 6, which is early for most people that work, but they locked up at least 15 mins early! Sounds like good business to me! At this point, I think the crossbow is going back for a refund and I’ll go buy one somewhere else. I doubt I’ll be doing any more business with that shop, which is a shame, as it’s right around the corner, I’ve bought a couple of bows from them over the years, sent quite a bit of business through their door and spent a bunch of money having them work on my stuff.
