  1. The peak of the rut is happening before gun season, you can be assured of that.
  2. I apologize, I read it as you were saying it. Thanks to Doc for pointing that out. Given your history on crossbows, it made sense though. Theres a chance of wounding with a rifle too. I fail to see that logic, and in no way would I agree with doing away with archery and allowing guns into the season. My point had more to do with allowing archery equipment thats easier for those that dont have the time for vertical bows, not just allowing the easiest hunting tool you can come up with.
  3. Pro-Cut Meats 6895 Rice Road Bloomfield, NY 14469 Phone: (585) 657-7099 I used them a few years ago in a pinch, great work at a good price and very fast service.

  5. Im plenty relaxed, and I did too post the email. I never said any situation. Those are your words.
  6. No DEC officer told me that? Really? I copied the email right here for you to see.
  7. Im telling you what I was told by DEC, what in the name of all that is holy dont you understand about that? You were shown the email from the region 8 captain.
  8. Any of you guys watch his videos on Youtube or his vines? Stuff is hilarious, I have no idea how his family puts up with it. His son looks to be a chip off the old block too.
  9. I used them one season along with my usual scent free routine, it really seemed like I got winded more often with them than I have without. I stopped using them after that season.
  10. I will grunt at bucks, maybe hit the can call a few times, but thats it. Sometimes it works like a charm, other times they just move along.
  11. Granted, but when you are given the same answer to the same question by 6 different people that are paid to uphold that particular law over the span of a couple of decades, you can reasonably come to the conclusion that its correct.
  12. My theory isnt what counts, and my opinion doesnt matter, we are talking about state laws here. Feel free to go back and read, I explained how and why I was given the information each time. Im not going to repeat myself. I will be very interested to see what answer you receive.
  13. But without as much of the wildcat type pizzazz I miss my 260 handgun, thats all.
  14. Maybe I should get mine rebarreled in 260. Or maybe I just need to buy another deer rifle. Or grab a 260 barrel for my Encore....hmmmmm

  19. Weekend recap Saturday morning I headed to one of my stands in the swamp. Had 2 does bust out of the brush about 100 yards away at first light. No action after that. I hopped over to another stand, where I saw 3 does, all out of range at about 60. Ended up getting down and doing some scouting during mid day, and found a fresh scrape line in an area I hadnt sat in yet this year. Got up in a stand and thats where I was for the rest of the day. Ended up seeing 3 young bucks, one was a 2 year old 7 point that I have tons of cam pics of, the other two were a spike and a 4 point. Sunday I overslept a bit, so got down to the farm a bit late. Sat at one of the stands that overlooks 2 of our brassica plots. About 1/2 hour in, the wind shifted, and deer started coming out, and I got busted twice. I hopped down and moved to a stand at the opposite end of the plots. Ended up seeing 17 does total, none in range. My buddy picked me up and we headed to a new property to do a bit of pre gun season scouting. This property has not had any hunting allowed in over 10 years, and he and I were asked to knock some deer out of there, as the farmer had his whole 20+ acres of beans wiped out this year. Total loss for him. We drove over there and deer were in the one field, and allowed us to 20 yards away before they bolted. We will hang a couple of stands there for rifle overlooking both fields. Should be a turkey shoot. After that we headed up to the one farm and setup a second ground blind for me to take my son this year. He is super excited to go. Once that was all done, I hopped into my evening stand, and saw a ton of activity. Ended up having a nice doe headed to my shooting lane, only to have it spooked out by a yote that showed up. No shot at the yote either. Monday morning I got to the farm nice and early. It was a gorgeous, crisp, cold morning. I sat in a stand overlooking a plot. All morning I heard a ton of grunting, ended up seeing 4 shooter bucks and 5 or 6 smaller ones, 7 to 10 different does, could have shot one or two, but there was always a big buck present so I wasnt going to take those shots. The only deer that ended up in range when the big boys were gone, were a couple of button bucks. It was an awesome morning, most of the activity was between 8:30 and 10:30. For the evening, I sat in a stand my buddy and I setup a couple of weeks ago. Saw one small 4 point, and had him at 15 yards. It was a great day overall. Saturday sunset in the swamp Spike on Saturday Frozen brassicas Sunday Does in the plot Sunday Plots
  20. Theres only 1 or 2 companies that make them. They are ripoff designs of Japanese/American bikes. I had a Redcat 50 for my daughter for a few years. It ran great, just needed normal maintenance like any other quad. Nothing unsafe about it. Ill be looking at them again next year, I want to get one that the kids can ride. My daughter is big enough to drive my UTV, and she is NOT taking that over lol.
