  1. I shot an email off to the Region 8 office asking about it.
  2. Huh, would you look at that. I would send an email to DEC to see which one is correct. AFAIK, crossbows are not a legal hunting implement any longer.
  3. I cant remember the name of it, but theres at least 1 out there that can be adjusted while you climb. Its pretty neat. Ill see if I cant dig it up.
  4. Plus they have to be in arms reach of their mentor, doubling the safety aspect. The sky is falling!
  5. Negative because I pointed out the politics he played in the letter or negative because I disagreed with your opinion? I must have pushed a button to elicit such an unintelligent response from you.
  6. Well, get your butt out to our event in February and you can meet more of the guys! http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/17589-save-the-date-feb-22-2014-winter-seminar-and-ne-reg-qdma-summit-rochester-ny/
  7. I check mine every 2 or 3 weeks. I keep mine out of bedding areas, etc for the most part. Im not using mine as much to pattern, Im just trying to take a bit of inventory. Typically, i keep mine on food sources, or right near them. Most places I hunt are farms, and human intrusion is pretty normal. I have pics of farm hands walking down a tractor road, and a mature buck going down the same trail a couple of hours later. Once hunting season rolls around, its a different story. Once the pressure is put on them, they turn into different animals.
  8. My response was to belo's first swing. Funny how the one that initiated the poop flinging isnt being pointed out here.Actually, Im not surprised at all.
  9. To farm an animal, it needs to be captive. Iowa has been growing giants well before people were putting in food plots. Using that logic, many of us here in NY are deer farmers
  10. Hard to tell from a head on angle.
  11. There are 2 bucks in those first 4 pics, both have irregular left side antlers and what looks like a wound to the right rear quarter. The injury and antler growth correlation is there, its strange that you have 2 bucks with similar injuries on the same property. Maybe they were running across a road together and both got banged by a car.
  12. Have you ever seen something the NYB has stood for that Sweeny doesnt vote for or support? I havent. Its pretty obvious. I havent seen anything from HSUS on the issue.
  13. Who provided his input. Big deal, get over yourself.
  14. But the Lakoskys dont run a high fence operation Doc. Feeders are legal there. They are not deer farmers.
  15. Just me & Bob? Come on Larry, Mikes here too, and he was the photogenic one in the picture! I think he had his cowboy boots on in it!
  16. Funny they (I say they because Id bet a fist full of cash that Sweeny didnt write this) forgot to include the part about the legislation being veto'ed because he tried to sneak the discontinuation of the special Columbus Day youth season in there. Sweeny is pure politician, and is in the back pocket of a certain organization. This is why its not a good idea for the politicians to be in charge of what the DEC should be regulating. DEC already did the surveys, you can read about it in the 5 year deer management plan. They have said time and time again that each time they get responses from people on the subject, the vast majority are in support of crossbows. Email them, ask them yourself.
  17. That was me. Ive been in contact with it a bunch this year, and nothing. The day I got it last year, I was handling fresh cut vines, and it was hot as heck out, and I was sweating up a storm. The effects didnt last long for me, and I never got any prescriptions.
  18. Are you guys really comparing Iowa to NY? Good lord. There are no laws that NY can put into place that would make it anything like Iowa. You are talking huge tracts of unbroken land that barely sees human activity besides the farming. Hunter densities that are less than half of NY's, and an overall population thats alot smaller. Add to that the minerals in he soil, and you have pieces of a puzzle you will never get in this state. Isnt it Iowa that plants more corn each year than the whole Northeastern US combined?
  19. I might take you up on that. I knew Muddy bought Harvest Time out, wasnt sure if the arrows were still the same though. Good to know, thanks!
