  1. Thats what I started out with and shot for a few years before going to a WB
  2. Yep, mine worked great, I went to the WB for the full containment aspect.
  3. You dont read very well do you. I already stated that Ive used Blazers longer than a WB, and Id use them even if I wasnt shooting a WB. Before I started using the spray (which isnt magical), I never had any issues with it anyway. The spray is probably one of the gimmicks I buy into, but it certainly doesnt hurt. Face it, the WB is a well proven, very accurate rest.
  4. Think about what you are saying here guys. The barrel is the biggest factor in accuracy, so a cantilever barrel being taken off the receiver with the scope still attached to it is more than likely not going to be any less accurate when you put it back on than when you took it off. Unless you just plain put stuff back together wrong, or smacked the scope on something, youre fine.
  5. We got a good deal on it. Most of what we planted was plain jane seed, not buck on the bag stuff.
  6. Wooohooo! Its raining! Just what I need! I hope it sticks around for a good length of time today and really soaks in. Lo9oks like theres a chance of rain the next couple of days too.
  7. You dont clean or lube anything? Remind me never to buy anything used off of you guys lol.
  8. Perfect example of why you should shoot as many as you can before buying one.
  9. Shoot spots, not groups. Only the first shot counts anyway.
  10. Broadheads and vanes are no real comparison. I have broadheads that are easily resharpened. Others have blades that can be replaced. If i had to replace the whole head everytime, then yes, to me its a gimmick. Ive fallen for plenty of them before, it happens. Im sure ill buy into more in the future.
  11. Wow, nice input. Not that I expect any different from you. I see them as a gimmick, as you have to replace them any time you put an arrow through a deer. Completely unnecessary. I have arrows that have passed through multiple deer, dont have to replace my vanes.
  12. Bullzeye Archery over in Bloomfield. The owner, Rich knows his stuff, and has some other great guys in there as well. Free 3d range, and a new indoor range now as well. You couldnt pay me to go to anyone else.
  13. Any rest needs some maintenance. Dont fool yourself. You should be waxing your string, lubing the servings regularly, so the spray just gets done then. Ive always shot Blazer vanes anyhow, so no difference there. Id rather squirt a little spray on there once a month than take the chance of some mechanical issue at the moment of truth.
  14. Just be careful basing your stands on what the patterns are right now, as they will change very soon.
  15. I second that. Shoot every bow you can get your hands on before you buy. Most good pro shops will have them rigged up to shoot, or can rig one for you to shoot. Once you figure out the one that feels best, go on Archerytalk and buy one thats a few months old from someone and save yourself some cash. Guys on there will shoot 100 arrows through a bow and sell it to buy something else.
  16. Theres no such thing as pretty nil. It was captured on cameras, tracks were found and photographed, among other evidence collected. Talk in all the circles you want, but the facts are the facts. One wandered through, and verifiable evidence was found and collected.
  17. Blazers. BTW, that WB spray I mentioned takes care of any freezing issues, etc.
  18. I passed on a mature buck last year that gave me a hard quartering to shot. Had him at 15 yards at full draw, could have put it right in the same spot as Sam did, but I just couldnt bring my self to chance a bad shot. I waited for him to turn, but he never did. Sometimes I think I should have done it, but mostly I just hope I get another shot at him this year.
  19. Thanks, the idea of these plots is more to attract the deer to the property more. Theres all kinds of bedding and all the water they can handle, but not much for food. We figure a little deer candy will help get them to stick around more. BTW, the really nice ones arent on this farm lol. My honey hole is a few miles away. That farm has no need for plots, its huge ag already.
  20. All of the plots are planted, now we just need some rain. Borrowed a 6 foot disc from a buddy yesterday and cleaned up plot 2, then broke ground on plots 1 and 3. I would have liked to have been able to bust the ground up a bit more on all of them, but we were working with what we had this year. Next year will be a different story. We ended up putting the same rape, radish, turnip, chickory mix as plot 4, into 1 and 2. Plot 3 got Whitetail Institute Pure Attraction, which is a mix of oats, brassicas and winter peas. In a couple of weeks, Im going to go down and hit everything with fertilizer. Once we get a bit more rain and things really start popping, I will get some pics of everything. A couple of things we learned this year, is that with the equipment we have, we really do need a tiller. The discs worked pretty good, but we are keeping most of the plots small, and not very wide. With the tractor we have, you cant cross cut them, as the areas are not wide enough, with the exception of plot 4. We also discovered that spraying by hand sucks lol. The goal for next year is to have a boom sprayer, tiller and a cultipacker, which should be all we need. Heres a few pics from yesterday. My daughter was goofing around with my phone and took some pics and ended up with a neat one of the one plot with my truck in the background. maybe she has a bit of a photographic eye lol. It really was a fun and productive day. The kids had a blast wandering around, etc.
  21. What cam are you using first light?
  22. Free unless you do the online version, which is $25 IIRC
