  1. Oh I agree with you 100%. I do not in any way want MLs to become part of the NY fauna in my lifetime.
  2. My 700 has the X-Mark trigger, and is advertized as adjustable. Guns do need to be broken in, especially rifles, and there is a process to doing it properly. Heres what I basically do... http://www.rifle-accuracy-reports.com/barrel-break-in.html
  3. Found this at one of the local wineries today. I had to pick up a bottle. If its good, Im going to go back and get a few more for Christmas gifts.
  4. It looks like I am going to be selling my Remington 870 after this deer season. Yeah, I know, I just got it, but today I fell in love with another shotgun, and this one will be able to do it all for me, from skeet to turkey to deer. Its the nicest feeling shotgun I have ever held. The Browning Maxus. I can break down that gun all the way to the firing pin (minus trigger assembly) and have it back together again in less than 2 minutes. It will be nice to lose a little recoil as well. Im all about buying American, especially when it comes to guns, but theres nothing on the market that comes close to this one. I am on the fence whether I am going to get rid of my Charles Daly or not, I might keep that as a back up, but in order to alleviate any grief over the price of the Maxus, I am going to have to get rid of the Remmy. Im just hoping I can put at least one deer on the ground with the Remmy before she goes.
  5. This morning I watched 2 guys unload both of their semi-autos within 10 seconds on a small yearling doe. They failed to hit the deer at all. I know its been a slow season and all, but damn.
  6. Just an FYI to those of you thinking about doing a "Wild Boar" hunt in PA, I spoke to one of the ranches down there today and apparently, PA has banned Russian and other types of real wild boar. The only pigs they are legally allowed to do hunts for down there are basically farmer Joe's pigs that they let loose into the preserves. All of them have to be castrated, and in turn, none grow tusks or anything like that. Just the info I was given.
  7. Been in the stand for a bit. Saw 2 in the cut corn a few mins ago. Perfect morning weather wise.
  8. No snow here, but its 26 degrees out! Just getting ready to hop in the shower and head out. Im only gonna have a couple of hours this morning, then we are heading out to BPS in Auburn to take the kids to see Santa and cut down our Christmas tree at our favorite Christmas tree farm. Weve been doing the same trip for 4 years now, its kinda become our little tradition.
  9. Crabapples are easier to take care of over time, the fruit hold onto the trees for longer and they can do a bit better in less than ideal conditions. Be careful with Walnut trees, they will attract squirrels more than anything and once they start spreading, they become hard to get rid of. At my father's place, we used to have no walnut trees at all, then one sprouted up about 10 or 15 years ago and started producing nuts. Now, the squirrels bury the nuts all over the place and many of them sprout into trees. They are popping up all over the property, usually in places we dont want them to, and they are filthy dirty trees. Id rather have hazelnuts and oaks or fruit trees. Just my experience with them.
  10. Those pics were from late summer/early fall when they were still in velvet and in their bachelor groups. WNY beat me to it lol
  11. Wow, some people are just plain ignorant and seem to refuse to educate themselves in any way shape or form.
  12. HAHA, sure keep tellin yourself that.
  13. Any other info on it? This is the first I have seen that one. How about this one shot in Il? http://www.realtree.com/hunting/articles-and-how-to/rack-report-travis-cockburn-s-258-inch-illinois-bow-kill
  14. Gas to PA wouldnt be that much, and $350 an animal is a good price. It would probably work out to a bit less per pound for the meat and a heck of alot more fun than going to the meat market for it all. Especially if you take care of your own butchering.
  15. Yep, Ive been wanting to do a hunt down there for a few years now, just havent gotten around to it. Ive heard good and bad about it, but the prices are alot more affordable than many others.
  16. You couldnt pay me to own another Samsung product. Ok, maybe you could pay me to....
  17. It does the same thing to me when I change Avatars, you have to refresh it a bunch of times for it to work.
  18. I agree as well. Dispatch the animal as quickly and cleanly as possible using the safest means you have.
