    It wasn’t like a spine shot. It was similar to when I’ve hit them in the shoulder. Front went down immediately and he ran. I hope It’s not a high leg. He was bleeding pretty heavy. We will see.

    Around 9 I had A big buck with a very dark rack step out. I waited Until he was in a shooting lane and pulled the trigger. He face planted and then got up and took off into some thick stuff. It looked like a good hit, so I went To see the spot where I shot Him. Found 6 places where he had fallen down and was bleeding heavy. Ended up tracking about 300 yards and decided to back out. Now I’m sitting at home driving myself nuts. My brother in law is going to come over in an hour or two and we will get back on the trail. Here’s a pic of one of the spots I found. I should Have backed out immediately but I didnt Think he would go far. I’m pretty sure this buck is one of the big 10s I’ve had around here. If it’s not him, it’s another big 8 I’ve seen. Those are the only 2 with really dark racks.

    Been in the stand since it got light out. Saw a ton of tracks coming in. There are fresh beds in the food plot and areas where they’ve been digging up turnips. Hopefully something shows up today.

    She’s been going with me since she was 4. I actually thought she would be fine, she doesn’t get that nervous with turkeys, she’s killed them the last 2 years in a row. Unfortunately we won’t get out tomorrow, both of my kids have hockey games. I’ll be out again Monday. She will be out with me again Wednesday.

    Got back in from hunting and the final piece of my night hunting setup got here. A 2 point rifle rest for my trigger stick tripod.

    Just had a spike come through at about 125 yards. Haley got buck fever and couldn’t find him in her scope when he was in 3 different shooting lanes lol.

    I’ve discovered something about Redneck blinds. Water dripping off of the roof is noisy tinging on the steel platform by the door. Gonna have to whip up some type of gutter for that side.

    I carry a small zip lock baggie with me. Ill knock the tobacco out of the cig, and put the outed butt in the baggie. That being said, i dont smoke much when im in the woods.

    I use Predator Fall Gray once the leaves come off of the trees and its cold. I use it whether theres snow or not. Remember, for deer, all you are trying to do is avoid blue colors and break up your outline. Now, for coyote hunting, I have snow camo. They can see thing much more clearly than a deer can, so you need to blend in as much as possible.

    Im looking forward to it. Haley and I will be sitting up in the Redneck for the whole day, nice and toasty with the heater. The snow will make deer stand out and movement easier to see. The cold temps will be nice for letting any downed deer lay so that we can be back up in the stand watching for more.

    I havent weighed it. I wanted a light rifle because I knew the NV scope would be heavy. This setup should be an easy carry with a sling. Id say it doesnt weigh much more than my deer rifle.

    Also, I forgot To mention, when I move To a free state, DSI will swap my lower out for a regular one, so it makes the rifle not neutered.

    I decided To put together a new coyote rig this year. I wanted Something small, fairly light, and some type of night vision optics. I stopped At Runnings the other day and saw a carbine length fixed mag AR. I did some quick research and ended up walking out the door with it. It’s a DSI with an M4 bolt, Magpul furniture front to back and chrome lined barrel with a brake. I then bought an ATN X-Sight HD with illuminatior and mounted it up when I got home tonight. It makes for a pretty compact, light rifle that should be perfect for how I plan to hunt with it. I have to go pick up a few boxes of hunting ammo, but I need to break it in first, which according to DSI, takes 500 rounds. Hopefully I will have it broken in and sighted in with a hunting round by the time deer season is done and it’s time to get after some yotes. One really cool option with this scope, I can Link it to my phone and stream video from it. Should make for some neat hunt videos.

    I have one of these for my tripod trigger stick that Ill be using for coyote hunting this year, its nice, but its no bench rest.

    I pee in all of the mock scrapes I make, and in all of the natural ones as well. It has no ill effects. Urine is urine.
