  1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I cant wait till they end up closing their doors. Screw them. I have had no issues getting anything and everything I need since I stopped going to their stores. I really cant wait for the Bass Pro to open in Victor though.
  2. I usually do them with the guys down at the farms I hunt. This year I havent been down there much, so I havent done any. I have been enjoying the natural deer movement through gun season on my low pressure piece of ground, but I kinda do miss the group hunting with the guys. Lots of memories from those hunts. The best way to do drives, IMO, is to do them with people that know the lay of the land, the typical escape routes, and use the wind to your advantage. Like Nomad explained, we have spots that we would drive where we send sitters to the next woodlot, as we know the deer are going to head there if they get past the others. It can be very effective if done properly.
  3. Take a peek at Vortex. Top notch glass in their higher tier models, more options for the money in all tiers, damn good glass in the lower tier models, and the best warranty out there.
  4. Kids. Once they are out of the house, Im out of NY for good.
  5. Good for you. Weve been back and forth on this subject before, why rehash it? Cant help yourself or something?
  6. Not yet. Haven’t had a chance to do anything yet.
  7. The Redneck ground blinds are pricey, but will stand up to a snow load better than just about anything else out there. They are not as portable as others though, as they use a heavier steel frame than the hub style blinds. I believe Muddy is making a similar soft side blind with a steel frame also. I havent had very good luck with any of the hub blinds. I buy new ones almost every season and they get squashed by snow, which usually snaps a bunch of the fiberglass rods. I didnt bother buying any this year.
  8. I have never heard that. Ive actually heard the opposite as well as that many deer that get to that age/size are actually more timid than most. Thats how they get old, by not putting themselves into a position to get beat up and worn out.
  9. Same here, except I run Vortex on mine. Factory package scopes are junk.
  10. I have only 1 complaint about my 700, and thats the finish on it. Remington uses a matte finish on the rifle that always collects light surface rust, no matter how well you keep it clean. After this deer season is over, Im going to completely disassemble mine, and have the barrel and receiver sent out to be cerakoted, then no more issues with it. The only thing I have done to my 700 so far was to install a Timney trigger. The cerakote will be next, and it will go into a custom stock when I put it back together. The rifle is a great shooter, even with factory ammo, has been since I bought it. One of these days Ill get my reloading setup and play around with it more.
  11. You either call in and report your kill over the phone, or do it online. Takes a few mins
  12. I have almost every tag Ive ever filled in my garage. No idea why Ive always kept them.
  13. The majority has also smoked weed at least once in their lifetime.
  14. Meaning that saying anyone who drinks enough to become inebriated or smokes a little weed or anything like that, has some sort of "mental illness", and that those who do not do that are somehow superior to those that choose to. Its a bunch of horse manure, and has nothing at all to do with any further updates or changes to the so called safe act.
  15. The one thing I do not like about it, is that I cant hear anything in there with the windows closed. Your head has to be on a swivel.
  16. Its definitely different than sitting in a stand. For this area though, it helps a ton with swirling wind issues, as the blind contains the vast majority of your scent. Its great for gun hunting, but I dont think its going to be all that great for bow. It is perfect for taking kids out.
  17. Oh for crying out loud, some of you guys need to step down off of your high horses.
  18. Nah. I want To keep things calm here for Haley. Only thing I’m shooting is a good buck or a yote. I’m giving her till ext weekend and then does start hitting the ground.
  19. Yes. There’s a trick to it. I ran The strap from the metal loop on the bottom of the platform to the bucket on the tractor. We then assembled the ladder and stood it up in the middle between the tower and tractor with the strap going over the top of the ladder. Stood it right up no problem. Seen videos of guys with ATV winches doing the same thing.
  20. Had to take Evan back to the house as he was being picked up by his mom. Back out in the woods for the evening sit.
