Thanks guys. Doe, that is exactly what I am doing with her. She cannot touch the antlers unless we are training, and I dont let her chew on them even then.

X2. Id be all for dropping the age to 10, with direct parental supervision required to the age of 14 and indirect until the age of 16. There are states out there that allow younger than 10 even. BTW, I already sent my emails in to support the bill. Is there a central e-mail to send support to? You have to send them to your area reps, I have the email addys for mine saved. You can google them.

I dont know, I usually put another arrow on and sit in my stand to let the deer expire. If something else comes along, well, Ill be ready. I have also taken a second shot at a deer, the first shot was at less than 30 yards. If I miss, I dont just get down, I knock another and stay in my stand. -
Bullet exchange????????
WNYBuckHunter replied to FULLDRAWXX75's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Not 100% sure yet. Maybe early Saturday or Sunday morning. Ill give you a call and let you know for sure when I find out. I was gonna see if I could stop by sometime soon with the new shotgun and use your bore sight too. Work has just been keeping me from doing anything lately. -
Did you read that on a cave painting? ;D

Eagle, we are not talking about shorter overall deer season, just shorter firearms season. Iowa has short and broken up firearms seasons unlike NY's long, contiguous seasons.

Culver, you going to the gun show this weekend? -
I started doing my own this year, it wasnt bad. I have one of the Gander Mountain electric grinders, works great. I bought it on Black Friday a couple of years ago for $40 or something like that. I also picked up a set of knives at Gander, and they work great for me. All together, I have less than $100 into the equipment. I also use a vacuum sealer, which was a Christmas gift one year. Thats about all you need. If you want to make minute steaks, you can get a hand crank cuber for pretty cheap as well.

Nope, I used to use Larry's in Avon. I grew up with his nephew.

Oh I know steve, Im just over it, way over it lol. Culver, that was in 93, it was during my junior year in high school. I remember that storm.

They are saying we could get anywhere between 6 and 10 inches in our area by tomorrow. : Im feeling ready to move at this point.

DEC Formulating Their "5 Year Deer Management Plan"
WNYBuckHunter replied to wztirem's topic in General Hunting
Feeders will not happen in NY, they are deathly afraid of CWD, so forget about it, its not even worth the space on the thread. : -
I use RM Taxidermy here in Rochester. I found him through the processor I used to use. He had a mount he did 10 years ago and it still looked great, even after being out in the garage/meat cutting shop for all that time. His turn around is pretty good, quality is great and prices are reasonable. He has done a deer and fox for me so far, though Id say the deer is the better mount of the two.

Nice!

Slow reload ??? You only need one shot ! If someone is unable or too feeble to draw a bowstring , a crank would simplify things . Isn't that the thought process of using a crossbow to begin with to get women , kids into the woods that are unable to draw a bowstring as well as aiding the physically handicapped . What part of "Unless you absolutely cant draw one" didnt you understand? You have never needed to reload? I find that hard to believe. Oh and um, the idea of getting crossbows legalized in bow season is, well to get them legalized in bow season so that anyone who chooses to use one can. Ive never said I had anything other than that in mind. -
Hang your backpack the easy way
WNYBuckHunter replied to fasteddie's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
I have a carabiner on my backpack and hang it from the side of my stand. I dont bother with an eye bolt, it works by just using a strap or one of the bars on the stand. Works out good. -
Ive been looking around for a new camcorder. You can get that cam for under $400 now.

WNYBuckHunter replied to sits in trees's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
Many of the crossbows have cranks to draw the string back which requires minimal effort . Most dont. Unless you absolutely cant draw one, why would you buy a crank model? Talk about a slow reload. -

Keep focusing on the most minute details and continue missing the point.....k? If you are going to throw something out thee as a comparison it is fair game to be picked apart. Sorry you used a bad example.
