Yep, thats the same brand I use. Theres a heat pack you can get for your lower back that works great on those cold days too. -
Warmest Hunting Boots ?
WNYBuckHunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have 800 Gram Rockys. If its below freezing, I put thin socks on, then stick the foot warmers to the bottom of the socks, then another light pair of socks. If it gets below 20, I put stick on warmers on the tops of my feet between the sock layers as well. That combo keeps them warm all day. -
Did they have 260 by chance?

Starter Trail Cam Recommendations?
WNYBuckHunter replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Heres the actual link http://www.chasingame.com/ and its a great place to read up. If you want to get started for the lowest cost, the Wildgame Innovations cams, particularly the IR4, are great, low cost cams. The biggest issue is they dont offer the features that some others do. I started with a Moultrie D40 flash camera, then got the WGI IR4 and now I have a Moultrie I60 too. I think the next one I am going to buy will be a Bushnell Trophycam. It gets addictive lol. -
According to Charles Alsheimer's theory, heres how it works... The second full moon after the autumnal equinox is the rutting moon. The seek phase should occur for 3 or 4 days on either side of the rutting moon. The Chase phase begins about 3 days after the rutting moon and goes until the breeding phase starts, which is about 7 days after the rutting moon. The breeding phase lasts for @ 14 days. About a week or two after that, the secondary rut can kick in. http://www.charliealsheimer.com/ca/moon.html

CNYlungbuster, I had issues with my IR4 and white-outs, it turned out to be the batteries. I was using cheap-o dollar store batteries and I changed to Energizers and it took care of the white-outs. Now I run the rechargable battery packs and no issues with white-outs either.

My honeyhole plot 2010 edition...
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
True, Thanks. -
It all depends on the area and how many acres are included. Also, if its just for hunting season or the whole year, if you are allowed to plant food plots, etc etc. In other words, there are alot of variables.

Deer population - Is it growing or is it over hunted?
WNYBuckHunter replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Youd be surprised how much huntable land is up in the area. Its just that the big trick is getting permission. Those that get it hold onto it like its gold. -
Good luck quitting Culver. I took that leap over a year ago and am much happier without those things.

Tree Stands, traditional wooden ones on tree's of 2 or more?
WNYBuckHunter replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
If I remember correctly, a 10 or 12 foot 2x6 was somewhere in the neighborhood of $40. -
I thought so.

Wildgame Innovations iR4CG Game Camera?
WNYBuckHunter replied to brudaman340's topic in General Chit Chat
Sits, you can take the cam apart and wire it to use the external battery pack. Mine had the same issue. From what I read they were supposedly fixing the issue with the tabs inside. -
string leeches wont get wet and weighted down or freeze up.

Hasnt it already been struck down?

No problem -
I used to be involved in larger, traditional drives. I wasnt a big fan, so I quit hunting with those groups. Thats all they did, drive this set of woods one day, that set another day, etc etc. Now, a I have a few hunting buddies that will do small 2 or 3 man pushes, but thats as far as we go. Most of my time is spent on stand or still hunting.
-
I do use the ratchet straps, just at the top of the stand though. I meant that I dont use them on the ladder when Im first climbing it. I have 4 ratchet straps on my 2 man stand, plus the 2 long ones that were used for putting it up, and then the straps on the roof frame and mid-ladder brace. Heres a quick diagram of what I was trying to describe.

Tree Stands, traditional wooden ones on tree's of 2 or more?
WNYBuckHunter replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
Yeah that stuff is expensive. I looked at getting some a while back for something and turned right around once I saw the price. I could rebuild the structure 3 or 4 times for what it cost. -
My honeyhole plot 2010 edition...
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Well, the deer have demolished the center part of my plot already. The center of it is the shadiest part and with the lack of sunlight, the deer nipped it all off early and its not coming back like other areas. Im gonna try over seeding with clover just to see if it comes in before season. -
Got this off my cam yesterday....
