  1. I'm sitting overlooking a one acre patch of corn and I cannot believe the amount of squirrels coming in and out!
  2. I'm in with my 11 yr old son. Kinda surprised he wanted to go again as he's not as outdoorsy as his little brother. Having an elevated enclosed place to go helps out a lot though.
  3. Just had a little spike horn go through. My son wanted me to shoot it. I told him we were holding out for his daddy.
  4. I'm in my blind I sat all day in yesterday. Today I brought my 11 yr old so we'll see how that goes. He'll probably be ok until his phone runs out of battery. Pretty soon the turkeys I watched fly up should be coming down I hope that keeps us occupied for a while.
  5. Finally a deer in range. A doe fawn all by herself. I bet momma doe is on a date with one of the bucks I had on camera last night. A friend hunting a couple miles away had a doe go by with three small bucks following and ended up seeing 6 small bucks through the morning.
  6. Pretty quiet here where I am in 8F. Saw the red coyote I'm hoping to get sometime but he was way out and moving fast.
  7. I caught a glimpse of a couple bodies moving through woods heading the bedding area the deer here use. Hopefully big boy still out cruising
  8. I also have a problem with trail cams. I'm running five cell cams on my 90 acres. Every morning is like Christmas, you just don't know what will be on them when you wake up and check. This year it's been lots of coyotes so my usual deer pics have slacked off. This is my target coyote. Lots of pics of it.
  9. This is where my eleven year old would say " boom, drop the mic"!
  10. I have used covert and now use spypoint link dark. I like the spypoint app better.
  11. I'm hoping to hold out for a 3.5 yr old buck. I've gotten two of them on camera using my property semi regularly. The problem is there is a really nice 2.5 year old that's been here all over the place too and I could see myself mistaking him for one of the others if I only get a quick look. I probably won't shoot any does as my place but will over at an orchard I hunt where they eat the heck out out of the apple trees.
  12. On my hunt tonight I had a doe run under my stand twice with her tongue hanging out but no other deer around, strangest thing. Then at last light 6 flat tops came out of the bedding area and headed towards the neighbor's corn, no bucks with them either.
  13. I'll probably have the rem 700 in 30-06 my dad gave me. He got it from Xerox as a perfect attendance award a long time ago. Good luck getting a gun as an award from a corporation today. My other options are a rem 6 mm or my trusty 12 gauge 870.
  14. It appears to be on tonight at my place (8F). I had pics of a nice buck tending doe around 1:30 today and since it got dark I've gotten pics of four more bucks along with pics of does running past the cameras. This is the first real chasing I've had pics of. One of the bucks is really big. I don't know if I have it in me to go out in the morning or not. It looks like it's going to be brutal cold and wind. We'll see what the morning brings.
  15. I shot my best buck ever last year on a last day of muzzleloader season deer drive. I love a good drive but we don't do many during the regular season.
  16. I should be out hunting today but I finally had it all come together today with a tractor to use and enough time to get something done with this blind I've had for over a year. Me and a buddy got it up in the air this morning. It still needs some work and I'm a little short on lumber but I'm hoping to get it done tomorrow. I now have two of these, one set up for east winds and one for west winds.
  17. I just waved my arms at them to shoo them away. Would be easy targets in the morning if season was open and I fall turkey hunted.
  18. The turkeys just roosted. The hen with the longest beard is right above me! Also a fox just came in looking for them right to where they flew up. Pretty cool.
  19. I can hear the flock of turkey heading my way. I saw their tracks heading into the neighbor's corn on my way in. Must be it's time to start heading towards their roost.
  20. Saw my first buck of the season. Im not sure if he would have been a legal buck though as small as his spikes were. He snuck in behind me and I never heard a thing.
  21. The view in front of me. Some rows of spruce I planted a few years ago over grown with golden rod and an apple tree I left when I cleared the area for obvious reasons
