  1. Looks good. I'm going to try to get my boys to watch it with me sometime
  2. Good luck! When I started mine back in April the contractor hit solid rock about 5 feet down. We finished the surface area of where I wanted but he's coming back in early August to hammer out a bunch of rock and finish grade around it. Even though it's only 5 feet deep it's been fun for our family. We've been swimming and watching all the new critters show up in it.
  3. Nope, but not far. This happened in Canisteo.
  4. Years ago down in Steuben county we had a corn plot a big bear like that one was terrorizing. One night after too many Milwaukee's best my uncle had enough when we could hear him out in the plot. I had a camera set up in the plot and got pics that night of the bear exiting the plot followed by my uncle one minute later banging two frying pans together. My aunt had those pics up on the fridge for years! Your pic of that big bear reminded of that.
  5. When I had my place in Steuben county it was a bear hot spot. They ate most of the fawns in the area every year. It was easy to see based on trail cam pictures and observation during hunting season, lots of single does with no fawns. I would typically get 8 or more different bears on camera during the month of May. They also love clover food plots.
  6. My wife made me autumn Olive jam once. It was very good, and also a ton of work which is probably why it was only once!
  7. My buddy and I were split up this morning because he overslept. It worked in his favor. He would have been with me if he had gotten up on time. I was nowhere near where the turkey's were and they ended up right in his lap. He got a decent Tom. 3/4" spurs 19.5 pounds probably 9" beard. There was a couple of hens and two Jake's in the flock as well.
  8. Dang it. Forgot my vest and had to turn around. Lost ten minutes. I'm in now and haven't heard anything yet.
  9. Long beard had hens and wouldn't budge. When walked out we could see him with hens still in same spot along with the jake's. Maybe next time.
  10. Me and a different buddy are hunting this morning. Just had three jake's in tight. A long beard is out there answering but hasn't come our way
  11. I'm not the man I once was. Third day in a row of getting up to hunt and I'm whooped already. Definitely sleeping in til my normal time tomorrow!
  12. Not looking good. Heard some weak hen talk , since then no gobbling. My buddy told me another guy missed one here a few days ago so he might be shy now.
  13. Bird is gobbling on the ground a little but not moving. We're still quiet.
  14. Hunting with a buddy at his place. One gobbling on roost. We're playing it quiet for now. They usually head our way.
  15. Suspicion confirmed. About 70 yards inside my woods. Right where turkey was Sunday morning I heard. Dirt bag trespasser!
  16. Not a peep in my woods this morning. I have a feeling a visitor on the neighbors property might have gotten lucky since I was last out.
  17. Have a hot Tom about 100 yards away, problem is hens are all headed his way. He's probably not heading my way!
  18. When I first started hunting I had an uncle that came along with my grandfather me and my dad. He said he always wore two pairs of underwear just in case!
  19. Not a peep in my woods this morning yet. I'm sure they're here somewhere.
  20. I'm out this morning again. I'm pretty sure the same two i was listening to a couple of days ago are still in close to the same spots hammering away. They are just about to fly down so I'm getting out of here until I check cameras a little later today.
  21. Not me. They won't be too far away from where they usually roost. Hopefully they decide to come my way.
  22. I am out for my first listen of the season this morning. Two gobblers are gobbling in two different spots. One quite a bit more than the other, both from the usual places they roost. My curiosity has been satisfied soI'm headed back in to get ready for work. I think I have a first timer coming with me opening morning so hopefully both of them hang out for a few more days.
  23. Off the top of my head I can remember three times I've called birds from far off on opposite hills. Two times there was a road in the way too. Also two times there were two Tom's traveling together. All three times I was calling aggressively.
