Your deer are probably thanking you for the tasty buds.

Forester/Logger recommendations

I have used future forest consulting a few times on different properties. He does a good job and will let you know what should be done. -

I went out at Sodus Saturday with a friend that has been hammering the perch. We didn't hammer them but it was nice to get out for the first time in years. The place was a zoo! -
what is your favorite outdoor/fishing/hunting quote or saying?
E J replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Chit Chat
I used to hunt with an old polish guy that always told me " ya don't shoot ya don't get nothin' ". -
870 smooth bore with a 1.5x5 scope. I'm pretty good out to 100 yards with it.

I have a DVD collection, six seasons I think. I'm hoping my kids get into it someday like I did when I was a kid

This is my boy Hanky. He is one tightly wound drahthaar. Although he has finally mellowed out a bit at five years old. He was almost the demise of my marriage when he was a pup!

This is Homer (left) and pixie (right). They are both labs that are about ten months old. Homer is a big goober and pixie is a little sneak.

That was great!

What a bummer. Charlie's writing is what really got me into hunting when I was a teen. He would write about his place and his hunts and I could just imagine being there with him watching over his shoulder. Years later I met him only to find out I'd been driving right by his house every weekend heading to my uncle's camp. His pictures, writing and insights into deer behavior will be missed!

The deer on my property are fussy. They only like corn, clover and whitetail institute oats. There is too much ag and orchard around for them to eat any sort of brassica. I've tried for five years now with no progress. Back when I had a camp in Steuben county a big field of brassica was the hot ticket all winter long.

On the way in I saw lots of fresh tracks and bumped a couple. Hopefully a little movement after it gets light!

I left work early for a quick sit. I have some standing corn in front of me that I'm hoping will draw in some deer tonight before the storm. It's my first sit in this stand this year. Before next season I need to do some serious lane trimming.

That's crazy! I've never heard of a deer getting totally eaten like that so fast.

Good luck

If it were me I would definitely go for it, if not you'll regret it. I'd try a little lower than the last accepted offer but not a lot. Good luck!

This guy tried sneaking through a thicket full of prickers and rose bush. He didn't make it!

I was just about to say..... The guys who haven't seen much probably don't have a whole lot of sympathy!

Beautiful morning in 8F. Nothing so far except a couple turkeys bumped out of the roost.

I have whizzed in many scrape's and it has no bad effect. I have cameras on them and have seen by the pics that it doesn't bother the deer that come to the scrape. Some guy's with far more deer experience than me even think it enhances a scrape's attractiveness. Charlie Alsheimer was the first person to tell me this many years ago. As far as I am concerned human urine doesn't bother deer at all.

Wow, that's some buck!

No deer this morning but I did see a few critters and got to itch my trigger finger. First I saw a beauty of a red fox that came through hunting then a little later a cat came through. I was kind of wishing the fox had still been there to see the cat so I could see what kind of response that would have gotten out of him. Then a bit later as I was messing around on my phone I looked over and caught a bigger red body going by. Me and the neighbors have been getting a lot of pics of a big reddish coyote so I was pretty sure it was him even though it was thick. I shoved my phone in my pocket and grabbed my shotgun and starting looking for him and doing a little soft squeaking. I picked him out at 80 yards with my scope and let him have it. It ended up being a male.

I didn't hear much shooting yesterday for it being Thanksgiving. And so far only one shot today. Seems weird

Good luck seeing him! What a buck!
