  1. Fool, dumb, geez no need to attack sir. Please find my original post I didn't talk about the park at all. I spoke to people attacking the hunter without knowledge of what happened. No need to get upset when somebody points out your words. Make it about me all you want, my point is you shouldn't have made the comments about the HUNTER. Funny part is you don't address at all the hypocrisy of your own words. This isn't about me. But hey if you feel you come across well with your statement so be it. It doesn't make you a fool or dumb. I would be childish to take it to that level.
  2. Wouldn't knowing the current regulations mean you don't know everything? That was my point last night. Take the state and park out of it, wouldn't calling the local Dec officer each year before hunting solve this? I haven't seen anyone argue the state or park is organized or right in the way the permits were handled. The statement of I know all I need to know while arguing the park needs to do better of letting you know what' going on is priceless. Almost as good as saying nobody is attacking the hunter even though that is exactly what you did on the fifth post of this thread before you knew what happened. Should I quote it again?
  3. Bone in ham, scalloped potatoes and greens. Hard to beat the previous picture though.
  4. I would really like to break this statement down but I said I won't argue. Good luck on year 19. Should find out who this hunter is and he could help you out next year with any new information on the park.
  5. Ok no problem. Read your own post they speak for themselves. Also read over a year of my posts I not once have disagreed or ever falsely talked about something at all. Your post are hypocritical and judgemental without knowledge simple as that. No more internet arguing for me but please read your own words.
  6. Always seems like people stating how it wasn't fair to them but didn't reach out and do what this gentlemen did even though they could have. Somebody will say something silly without even knowing the person like bet he paid someone or had inside knowledge something funny going on. From my life experience its that type of person who should take a look in the mirror.
  7. Has anybody heard of a weeping persimmon tree? Seems to be the only persimmon tree worth giving a try this far North.
  8. Apple trees go dormant during the winter which is a good time to prune them, they shouldn't go into shock unless you prune to main branches. I believe the idea of this is to never prune any apple tree when it's in the growing season because you would shock the tree and stop growth.
  9. You can go to your local forestry store and they will have tips and everything you need.
  10. I haven't had the opportunity to hunt anything more then farms and swamp the last 15 years on and off so even though sightings of deer were less then I was use to, I was a pig in shit hunting big woods as I did as a young kid. I also was with my dad who harvested a deer with a bow for the first time in 20 years. Lots of learning to do including tracking but I did shoot a mature 8 but blew the shot just grazing the deer then spending almost two days looking for him. All in all I'll take big woods and limited deer over farm hunting any day. I killed a bear and doe this year in the southern tier buts it's the big woods that has me excited for next year, it takes a different hunter to succeed in that environment.
  11. Like most people who read this section of the forum I would like to plant fruit trees next year. I think chestnut crabapple semi dwarf is my apple choice#1 but I would like 2 or 3 varieties any insight? Pear trees are my next reading subject which looks a little more in depth then apples. I can read all day but have never grown fruit tree's and I know there is some hidden knowledge behind some of these keyboards.
  12. Grow, how large did you buy the trees? Any insight into these trees, no oak by me and I wonder if this type of tree with have trouble surviving. What type of soil do you have?
  13. This was me a year ago. Good news is you have 4-5 months to come up with a million different plot combos, how you will plant them when and where. My wife is blown away by the amount of time I spend reading, listening and drawing ideas for plots. QDMA has an awesome book that teaches the steps a to z. My mistake on my first real plot was only tilling. Spraying or a controlled fire is a must in my book on a new plot.
  14. Owl for a thousand Alex. Last two threads like this have been too easy
  15. I had the exact same issue with powerplant. All the others products have been great. The soil test and lab results are well worth the $13
  16. Of course. Contacted the ranger took screenshots on Google earth it's not even close. There is back story on this as it was not being used after a fire years ago. The state bought the land and the stand is not marked. He owns the land down the mountain and doesn't want people hunting that area which is state land.
  17. Yes. This stand has been in the same spot for 10 years on a trail on state land. I have stands that people sit in and would never think it was a problem unless I wanted to sit there. I also have sent hunters I don't know to the same area. What do you think about the whole story Belo? I'm interested and my input has been made, I'm open to yours. So if I sat 10 yards away it's alright? Is it his claim to state land? This is no 5000 acre area idk I just have had the same happen to me and to be honest not once ever asked I guy to get down. I'm not trying to be condasending the internet is tough, to be clear but I'm not looking for an argument.
  18. I think I won the worst hunting day award today. On state land had a guy on an atv come up to me an hour before dark. Said it was his stand (no markings). No problem I will never argue with anyone unless it's a stand I hung. I did mention it was state land and he has an atv which his response was he didn't care and I was trespassing. Well hum dinger but he had the wrong guy at that point, as I let him know I grew up at the end of the road and new the land step by step and he was lying! He then called me a liberal because I have long hair. I let him know I took a picture of his tags and himself and he was free to do the same. How come everything is fine when you let somebody know your a veteran? He shut up I wasn't a liberal anymore and he offered me a stand on what was actually his land. You gotta be kidding me after telling me to suck your blah blah blah because I was in the right? Jeez I said f off and have let the ranger in that area know about the issue as well as sending him pictures. Today was a loss lol. He was 60 from da bronx he said and I have never been so grateful that somebody wasn't my age because he had it coming.
  19. It's good I'm not the only one. I'm more excited for spring then I am to hunt at this point.
  20. I would say planting food plots is a way to gurentee deer and wildlife activity on your land. I can' think of a reason not to add a food source even if it helps a travel corridor nearby. I have seen a drastic change in one year with only an acre combined on my land 40 acres. It all depends on the setup but go for it and enjoy!
