  1. I made some ribs of my own, Biz inspired wife approved.
  2. I was just in Boothbay myself great relaxing quick vacation.
  3. I had a couple decent bears early but I pulled cards today and had more bears pictures in one pull then I've had in three years. Berries probley help.
  4. Stuffed pablano peppers with grilled chicken, marblejack and feta cheeese. Roasted red potatoes with the left over feta.
  5. The picture with the deer is a failed plot from last year same seed, same date, same plot. Not nearly as pretty as Jsin but I will take it. Only 3/4 of an acre and it is holding up so far, Whitetail Institute powerplant. Planted June 20th in 5H
  6. Great topic! Next spring I'm looking to make my own outdoor oven for multiple use. I look forward to updates on this thread. I have plenty of bricks just working on a design and main use.
  7. Brisket was a little overdone for me but Im very particular about brisket. Sous vide cooker is highly recommended, finally getting to use my new toy. The chef who suggested sous vide uses different times then the recipes Ive found online and his comes out better.
  8. http://www.chestnuthilltreefarm.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkMmF0bTq3AIVBhgMCh1emQAFEAAYASAAEgLxV_D_BwE Seems to be the best source from what I've read. They ship to walmarts nationwide, if you give them your email they will send you alerts when shipped to your state. Much cheaper to buy at walmart but Im not sure if they do a fall shipment. Im to north to grow them but I let a buddy know about this and he picked six up from Walmart in May I think. He said the trees were great quality and large.
  9. You can get those Chestnut trees in October depending on if you want to give up a day of hunting. I plan on doing this with some apple trees.
  10. Spare ribs came out solid. Brisket will take a few days.
  11. Clover might be slow the first year which is normal if it's white clover. Brassicas if applied heavily might shade the clover out but I wouldn't worry about it. In spring it should pop through. I agree with WNY wheat or rye is a good nurse crop for clover plus late season food source.
  12. Is closed cell necessary for a hunting cabin?
  13. Anyone have a guess on the cost of sprayfoaming a 27x20 cabin with a loft and metal roof? No other insulation removal just come in and go to work. Thanks
  14. I couldn't agree more, other posters including myself had luck with rye and wheat with clover and it grows very easily.
  15. Maples work for me as far as attraction. I dont have Sumac but that makes sense as well.
  16. Raspberries were perfect last week for me. Blackberry bushes were just starting to produce. 40 acres of selective cut seven years ago has lead to endless berries just a matter of how many we can pick. Spetember 10th last year we were still picking.
  17. Still working on it but this is from a year ago. Outhouse was finished that day we still need to spray foam it, tongue and groove and some sheet rock. 27x20 but very similar setup to Salmon Run.
  18. Yes. I like others travel three hours, I have had a tight schedule last couple months so I couldn't wait for rain. They were planted June 10th, I visited July 3rd and had maybe 10% germination. I decided to overseed it with radishes and turnips because of what I thought was lack of germination and I wanted to experiment planting a winter plot very early for bulbs. I planted my winter plot last week of August last year and Im looking for more growth this year. Frost comes early where I am so late July is my optimum planting I think. I just seeded winter peas and brassicas yesterday into a new 1/2 acre plot I added this year. It took 4000 pounds of lime to get results in my main plot so I dont expect much out of the new plot this year. All plots done with chainsaw and atv tiller.
  19. In my third year of owning land and creating food plots I have finally found hard work has equaled results. Well that isn't so true because with a little effort, we have changed the amount of wildlife negitive and positive but only now have I been satisfied with my food plot results. A couple books, youtube and some very well informed posters on this forum have allowed me moderate success compared to many but extreme success to myself. I have enjoyed three years of learning from an experience level of zero to now and love the learning process. I hope somebody just starting out reads this beacuse it is worth the challenge. I have 8 different bucks and countless doe (with ZERO fawn that sucks) in a very low density area that, only had two bucks on camera the first year. I gave up on my soybean plot only to be surprised with success.
  20. Beef shank with the best wine sauce you've ever had with pablano pepper, shallot, celery, and secret herbs. Served with mashed potatoes.
  21. Otto, do you have any pictures of where these were grown? They look great enjoy, I'm just wondering the amount of space it took you to grow that amount.
  22. Looking good nothing more enjoyable then working your land.
  23. Agreed but if I remember the throw and grow pictures I don't think you will have success with radish.
  24. No clue if this stuff is true but this is his fourth or fifth time accused of misconduct like this. Where there is smoke there is fire. I hope it ends up being false because he is accused of some terrible stuff. Beat your kid for peeing the bed should get you ten years in my mind.
