  1. late i would say....save your money do it right next year
  2. well i would say yes full inclusion, i look at when there were just recurve and long bows compared to them todays modern bows are nothing like them.. but agree with grow put it under the bow stamp and make people attended the hunter safety bow class
  3. nope ladder stands r my favorite i do shoot from sitting position if i think i might get caught standing moving....i dont like being more the 15ft high.....
  4. wel didnt hunt but made it the property it looks like these leaves on the turnips barassicas have stopped growing but the bulbs are getting to decent size am very happy with the big n beasty,
  5. DO A TITLE SEARCH, and have a lawyer do it, a friend I know kinda did what your doing just him and the seller where did the deal .... He went to sell and found some guy from like 1930 had a claim to it and was a headache but worked out....You already had one surprise with the mineral rights and dont forget mineral rights in no way just includes hydrofracking.... I agree with chas that its unlikly they wil never ever do anything with minerals hes right that there are easier areas to get gas from but they can sell it to anyone they want and that could change.
  6. also look at the mineral rights very close can the holder of the rights sell it to a third party with out your knowledge . u said it was a development company say they need dirt or fill for a sight they are developing they can come in and take it from your land. if your going to build a cabin get a buffer zone u could wake up one morning and find a dozer two feet away tearing your land up. If they do do something with minerals or whatever do they need to put there own driveway in or do they have the right to use yours and tear it up with big trucks . Can they put above ground pipelines in meaning that they could put a line blocking u if u want to ride a tractor or atv. Also i cant dig a pond a or septic tank outside my buffer zone. Just some stuff to consider.
  7. ok i bought 90 acres last year and i dont own mineral rights but i only paid $450 and acre so it was a good deal.... and when i bought there were several other properties being sold by the same company the most was $600 acre the least was $360... so if your not getting the mineral rights there should be a sharp reduction in price, 6000 grand i would say is not a bad price to buy the rights but the owner should be reducing his price .... also i got what they call a buffer zone this means i selected a 10 acre area that the mineral co. cant touch... now fracking is not likely in NY but they can put a regular gas well in or whatever..I would say walk away dont know what land goes for in your area but if the owner is even remotely close to what a normal 25 acres goes for walk away.
  8. I got some left with the ground i will make a huge pot of chili and then freeze it in zip lock bags that way i dont got to cook it just before headed to camp same with stew, and i think it tastes better this way...also wil make some jerky when theses temps drop off and that will pretty much clean the freezer out....
  9. i got an old 94 and no scope just seems like its not meant for it i keep mine for close shooting brush or deer drives love that lil gun shot a number of deer with it never had an issue with dropping them quickly.
  10. Thks just wondering my turnips went in 08/06 as of last week i had about 15in leaves and bulbs half the size of a baseball... think ill go a week or two earlier next year.. i used 19-19-19 when planted and when they got about 4in high used the same again. They look good but the bulbs arent nearly as big as yours...
  11. do you know the date you put the seed in the ground for the turnips,
  12. ll checked out the property the hot spot plot is getting mowed down by the deer the big an beasty has got bulbs the size of baseballs and in last week is doing great the clover plot looks better then it has all year but the deer arnt hitting it like they did earlier in the year but im gussing change of taste the oats and mixed blend i put in late is also getting hit hard all in all good results for first year big and beasty i would say 15in and getting eaten but not hard the hot spot is getting hit hard and will be gone by november 1st the clover great but not gettimg hit much
  13. weather man says 80's for another week and no rain.... im thinking we could really use some rain
  14. dang i read that quick thought it said stripper
  15. would like some rain for the plots other then that i will just wait till temps drop... not so much against hunting when its warm but trying to keep the meat from spoiling is a pain at camp with no fridge, and i dont like butchering the same day, and i do all my own butchering
  16. Didnt say that i dont have work an have lots of other things that got to do everyone does just dont see that having more time to hunt bad ... hell i see it as a positive to have more time to get out and enjoy the woods being able to dump a doe is an extra sure..and i also enjoy practicing with the bow even if its just 10 minutes every couple of days. I was judging you just kinda made hunting sound like going to work... just having a lil fun relax....
  17. MORE TIME HUNTING!!!! OH THE HORROR lol... prices for bow aint cheap ill agree on that
  18. over the years ive had good luck getting permission but keeping it was an issue 1st property was turned over to farmers family and i lost permission, 2nd was a guy i knew he never wanted money and wasnt any work to be done wasnt a farm just vacant woodlot just asked to keep an eye on it he ended up letting some employees from his buisness hunt it . third was a lease guy found out he could get more money so i got dumped he never even offered to match the price.... i have found getting permission from the guy who owns small acres 10 to 40 is easier then big farms
  19. its an addiction for sure im already planning next yr to expand at least 3 plots not cheap either lime fertilizer ..... well these warmer temps should help with any plots that got in late, this weather is weird this yr for sure
  20. well last yr in 7M only could get 1 dmp and non residents couldnt get any, this yr everyone has a high chance for 1st and if your a resident low on second chance and non resident no second,,, seems like a big bump up,,,, really dont see why they made the increase ... I will say this they do alot of cutting of trees on state land in the area and i think that improves habitat...
  21. well the the two plots that went in aug 6 look great some plants are a foot or better and the brassica/radish or whatever they are have bulbs the size of golf balls starting, and as far as everyone saying the deer dont eat this stuff till a frost wrong... not alot of pressure but they sure are eating some. the clover looks better since being mowed. the last plot that is only like 2weeks old has some growth and germination but nothing like the first two looked like after two weeks. im guessing way to late to plant and temps that are below normal.
  22. you will get some growth but more then likely wont get bulbs on beets, i think u will be doing good if u get 6in plants......
