Happy Independence day everyone.

Got the brisket seasoned with a blend of "special shit" and " bullshit". Little brown sugar added to the mix. Pork butt has SPOG.

The 250 gal RF stick burner is coming out of hibernation tomorrow. Not even close to being full, but I need some smoke therapy. 1- 12 lb pork butt. 1- 13 lb brisket. Some baked beans, and mac-n-cheese. I'll post up some pics tomorrow once I get her fired up.

Bears usually breed in June. 2nd video could be a younger sow that's in heat with a boar following.

Diesel / motor oil wood preservative for trailer deck
mowin replied to Nytracker's topic in General Chit Chat
I always did what ever I had on hand. If I had a few quarts of old motor oil after a oil change and had some left after starting the burning barrel, or campfire, I mixed it with a gal or so of diesel and laid it on thick during a hot streak. Realistically, I don't think it helped. I haven't done it in years. My decking on my landscaping trailer is 11 yrs old PT boards, and has never been treated with the oil/fuel method. It's Used every day during the spring to fall to haul mowers and smaller equipment around. My 14k equipment trailer is 6 yrs old, and I need to replace the decking this fall. Only used 2-3 times a month, and sometimes sits longer. I really think the less it's used, the more the "treating" method may help, but why didn't the less used trailer with the same decking boards need replacing? -
Will the world change the way you hunt this season?
mowin replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
No change here. -
Any boat can be pushed beyond it's limits. I've been on my cousin's 17' deep V where I was wearing a life vest and clutching 2 more with a death grip on lake Champlain. That lake can get extremely ugly. Most of the lakes around me are a bathtub compared to Champlain.
-
Oh boy. What to build.... Oak is tuff. Many horse fences are built with oak. Rest if large enough, goes to furniture. Two many knots or twisted, firewood.
-
Don't argue. I'm more of a ask forgiveness kind of guy. You've gotten permission. Go buy something.

I'm definitely not worried about the wind while loading/unloading. I've seen deep V and pontoons load/unload at the crown point and Vermont launch on Champlain in 15 mph winds. Challenging, but not impossible. Definitely not looking for a fishing rig. Most of my fishing is waiting for a bobber to disappear, lol. Also seen many a pontoon pulling skiers or tubbers. But I'm not looking to pull people around all day either. One thing I'm hearing from people that have or had one is definitely don't be underpowered.
-
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I've definitely have to rig to tow it. 2019 F350. Not worrying about launching or loading. Back trailers up everyday. As far as a pita to tow, can't be any worse then a 40' 5er. Don't plan on carrying or removing a 90+ hp motor, lol. The wind is what I'm concerned about as far as loading. But if it's that windy, I probably won't go out.

Sorry to hear about your brother, grampy. May your brother rest in peace.

Perfect. Thank you

Ugh... I had one dog that learned the zap wasn't bad enough as the freedom, lol. She would dart over the invisible fence, yelp, then be free. Bitch.
-
That's the one I've been looking for. Lol
-
What about something like this, but two pieces. One on the post, the other connecting half on the gate. On the hinge side of the gate to the post, a coated, flexible wire, like the one you'd bury?
-
Lol, I'm sure a hit or two would discourage them. The decoy wire is a option. Thanks for your input. It's definitely helping.
-
This is the type of fence, but I'll be adding welded wire to keep dogs in. The gates I'll build to match the fence and they will have the welded wire fence also. So if you can picture fence, gate, fence, I want the hot wire to be continuous, but realize I need to disconnect something to open the gate.
-
Fence will be a 3 board with welded wire. I'll be making the gates to match the fence. One gate will be 10' consisting of two 5' gates for construction access if needed, and my 72" mower through. The other two will match the 3 board, but only be 4'.
-
But how is the gate then not electrified? I don't want my dogs to realize the gates are a escape zone.

I've been on boats frequently. Last time was this past weekend on lake Champlain for the father's day contest that I've been in since 2001. Always on my cousin's deep V 17'. Have a 5th wheel RV were not using, and thinking about trading it for a pontoon boat. I know I want a 4 stroke outboard. But the only place that will take our 5er on trade is boat n rv warehouse in Coxsackie where we purchased the rv. The wrinkle. Rv has 4 slides. The smallest slide I discovered is damaged. Yes we have insurance, but I'd rather trade it in before a insurance claim as we all know that effects insurance rates. Dealer is aware of the slide damage. Only boat I've owned was a 14' stick steered. Didn't have a steering wheel, but wasn't steered from the tiller. So if the numbers work, we might be getting a pontoon. But what are the must haves other than a trailer as we don't live on a lake?
-
That looks fantastic. He will cherish that and the memories for the rest of his life. Great job dad.

I'll Google that. I'm kinda electric fence illiterate. I know how they work, and grounded, but that's it. The farm I hunt had those "slinkys" with a hook that would connect to the opposite post. But it had to be removed as well as opening the gate. So what I'm trying to do is get off the mower, throw a switch or something similar, open the gate and I'm in..
