  1. I believe all equipped, quiver, scope arrows it around 10 lbs. Definitely heavier than my PSE fang, but easier to cary around and definitely better in a ground blind. Both are front heavy, but the CP is a little worse. Accuracy, the CP is touching arrows at 45y. Fang prob a 4" group. I like the CP better. The cocking sled is great for sighting in, but I'm using the rope in the field. I can uncock it with the sled and and I sometimes do.
  2. Picked up the CP patriot couple weeks ago. It's advertised as 15.5" ATA uncocked. Tip to tip it's 17 1/8. Not sure what the specs are for the one posted.
  3. Most likely my last archery sit of the yr. Sitting on my foot plot. So much to do before Saturday. Have a buddy and his two sons coming down from Maine to hunt with my cousins property. I'm hopeful to get them on the farm a day or two.
  4. Remember, Ny is limb tip to limb tip uncocked. NOT axle to axle.
  5. I usually don't bring anything. Definitely nothing to drink. I'd have to pee all the damn time.
  6. Full moon is Friday morning around 9am. I'm in Columbia county also. Could read the paper last night it was so bright out at midnight.
  7. Full moon on Friday, just in time for SZ opener. I hate hunting a full moon.
  8. Averill park is in my neck of the woods. Lots of deer in that area.
  9. I'll be in the same stand as the past 20 yrs. Thick and on the edge of the swamp. Killed a handful there on opening morning and a few more opening evening's.
  10. I worked for a buddy of mine skinning and butchering for several years back in the early 2000's seen plenty of shotgun killed deer. Lots that were hit poorly. Believe me, they were not pretty. Just as much wasted meat if not more, then rifle caliber. Your theory a bad hit with a shotgun is going to waste much less meat just isn't true.
  11. And how can you confirm that? What experience do you have above and beyond the 2 you butchered that were poorly hit with a 243? I've seen dozens of 20, 16, and 12g do some damage that would make a . 300 win mag blush. And your only sentence that makes sense, if you're shot doesn't hit exactly where you wanted. Regardless of slug, caliber, your loosing meat, and both would be a equal loss.
  12. Lived in rifle zone all my life. Would never consider using a shotgun. Lots of fields in my spots. Taken deer out to 325yrds. Shotgun just wouldn't fit here. Can't ever remember seeing someone toting a shotgun in the 40+yrs I've been hunting.

I don't have any children, only niece's and nephew's, and one step rat that I'm so proud of, but she wants nothing to do with the hunting or the outdoors. My fondest memories are with my nephew's taking their first deer and sharing it with there grandparents (my brother and his wife). Enjoy those moments and cherish the memories. I remember my first hunting experience's like they happened yesterday.
  14. I've passed at least a couple dozen opportunities at does and smaller bucks. I only need 30 to 40 lbs of venison for myself. My 7 niece's and nephew's, and my brother and sister can devour a lot of venison. I'll let the nephew's fill their tags, and if I want to shoot something, I will.
  15. My hunting circle hasn't gotten squat this year. The only exception is a youth hunter, and my two nephew's taking their first bow kills. However several of us have passed many does, and smaller bucks. I know several of my buddies have drastically lowered their self imposed restrictions drastically for the next few days.
  16. Really, have to make it political? Please educate me how this left wing POS has anything to do with it, and why it's on my phone.. what a idiot..
  17. Congrats on the spike. Sounds like it was a fun hunt.
  18. The ad I have now is about Jennifer Lopez dating history. I can assure you, I've NEVER googled her or her dating history. So the theory that the ads are generated by my search history can't be true, and no one uses my phone but me.
  19. I just bought a mono pod trigger stick. I like it. The bi pod would be easier as I wouldn't move side to side like the mono pod.
  20. I just can't bring myself to try it. Something about it just doesn't sound appealing. My dad used to fry it up with butter, and onions.
  21. Never shot a deer with a shotgun slug. But by the looks of that slug, it's going to hurt...
  22. If broadside, I always aim a inch or so behind the crease. If quartering away, I want the exit to be just behind the opposite shoulder.
