  1. My archery season was a huge success. Both my grandnephews harvested there first archery deer. I actually watched Dom shoot and see the spike drop. I didn't need to shoot anything to make this archery season one I'll never forget.
  2. I'm in agreement. Love the archery season. The last couple being special watching my grandnephews learn how special this season is and how special any archery deer actually is. Both are looking forward to being able to reach out and drop a deer with the rifle, but they also realize it's not the same as archery. Both are thinking about using the bow during the late season if the freezers are full.
  3. If the straps are older, the stitching starts to separate. I always have two straps on every stand, one that is new every fall. The oldest gets cut off and replaced. The following yr I add a new one, and cut the oldest off, leaving a new one and a yr old one on every stand.
  4. TC pro hunter 7mm-08. Ruger m77 skeleton stock 270 as a backup if I happen to fall or drop the TC.
  5. Good luck everyone. Looking forward to the pics and stories.
  6. The last time I did 60mph on a quad was a long time ago. Well past those days. Just riding around I've never gotten stuck. Towing a (over) loaded trailer uphill I've lost traction and there was nothing I could do about that. More HP wouldn't be helped in that situation. It's the same pulling a implement. You loose traction, the added HP isn't going to help. It's all about power to weight ratio.
  7. Almost. Nephew seen the big boy chasing a doe full tilt at 60yrds. Then back through at 50yrds.. then back through at 75 yrds never to be seen again. Well maybe tomorrow??
  8. And I'm on the bigger engine doesn't do you much good unless you're going fast. Weight is the the ultimate issue. The added HP won't do anyone any good if you don't have the weight to pull the implement. Spinning out with a 700lb 570 is the same as spinning out with a 750 that weights a 100lbs more.
  9. Thank God I live where I do.
  10. I'm going to shoot a spike Saturday and stand 50yrds behind it for the pic. Biggest spike ever. Lol
  11. $7800 is a boat load of money. I'd go for the 570 sportsman. And use the rest for implements
  12. Rain hasn't started here in 4U yet. My nephew's might make the entire afternoon hunt before it starts.
  13. I agree, there the way to go, but for some of us a $8000 quad is doable.. a $15,000 utv isn't.
  14. My 570 sportsman has dragged some impressive loads. Once I loose traction, it's all over. Another 75lbs might have gotten me another couple feet. So the 1000cc is $7800 more than the 450?
  15. He mentioned his one plot was rocky. I didn't notice one decent size rock in any of his plots. In my area, we've got rocks. Lots of softball to volleyball sized rocks. That really beat up equipment.
  16. Buddy of mine did 4, 1/2 acre food plots this yr with a 350 Honda that's probably 25 yrs old He bought a tow behind tiller to bust up the soil. He used my sprayer and spreader to prep and seed.
  17. The issue is traction. A 700cc quad isn't going to weigh much more than a 400-570 machine. You can have all the power at your finger tip, but if you don't have the weight to pull whatever you're dragging behind you, it's useless.
  18. I'll have to look, but I think the new extended season ends Jan 1. Just checked. Southern zone extended season ends Jan 1.
  19. I could, but the smoke pole will be utilized. Actually isn't it Jan 1?
  20. Lol, wish I could. I'll let my nephew's fill the freezers. I'll sit back and enjoy watching them. I'll have more time during rifle as long as it's not bitter cold. Can't take the cold like I used to.
  21. Well, that's a wrap for my archery season. Had great hunts. Both my nephew's took their first bow deer. I passed a bunch of does and little bucks, and miss a slammer. Miss judged the distance, and shot under.
  22. I believe all equipped, quiver, scope arrows it around 10 lbs. Definitely heavier than my PSE fang, but easier to cary around and definitely better in a ground blind. Both are front heavy, but the CP is a little worse. Accuracy, the CP is touching arrows at 45y. Fang prob a 4" group. I like the CP better. The cocking sled is great for sighting in, but I'm using the rope in the field. I can uncock it with the sled and and I sometimes do.
