  1. Shot looks high. Blood had to fill the cavity before leaving a decent blood trail.
  2. He has 3 kids age 12 to 3. He said they don't even know he shot. Lol.
  3. Both my nephew's are headed out for the afternoon hunt. One has a buck tag, the other has a doe tag. I'll be heading out Monday or Tuesday with the smoke pole.
  4. Regardless. Shot placement 100%. Could a 30-30 have made a difference, maybe.. but there's no way to determine if it would. It sucks. I've lost a deer shot with a 30-30. Big 10pt. Gut shot at 15 yrds. I seen it bed down 80 yrds out, but behind a lot of brush. My youthful inexperience cost me that deer. I got off stand 10 minutes after shooting and Bumped him onto the neighbors property. Called DEC and they looked but couldn't find the deer. I was 17. Haunts me to this day. A elephant gun wouldn't have resulted in a different outcome.
  5. Really? First thing you posted was "to bad she wasn't shooting a 44m or 30-30.
  6. I've never seen fat plug a bullet wound, ever. Guts, ya kinda, but guts don't bleed. Fattest deer ever can't stop the bleed from any legal caliber if shot in the boiler room.
  7. You never feel the kick when the adrenaline is pumping. Range time is different. Worst kicking gun I owned was a single shot 12g. That thing would loosen your fillings. Never disagreed the 44m and 30-30 is a better short range brush gun. But claiming they will kill deer better than a 243, and that it's inadequate is just plain wrong.
  8. Buddy of mine does this. He has a cell cam set up at the bait. Gets a notification and shoots from the house.
  9. Everything is expensive now. Haven't seen anything on the shelves in the caliber's I have in over a year.
  10. Lol, how is he proving you correct? Have you not seen the many pics that have proven you wrong time and time again? The deer unfortunately wasn't hit in the vitals. Are you saying that wherever a 44m or 30-30 bullet hits it's a dead deer? Love the recoil of my 7mm-08. Don't think you could handle it though.
  11. I'm on the eastern side of the state. Just getting going here. I'm sure it's going to get worse. Makes me glad I don't have any large trees near the house.
  12. Buddy loves the fusion in his 06. But man are they expensive. I've taken a dozen or so deer with North American Whitetail ammo in 7mm-08. From 10yrds to 300. Preformed well enough to kill em all.
  13. Sometimes I swear I can feel the house move, lol Had a 28 mph gusts a few minutes ago. Supposed to get worse.
  14. Not at all. Just hate it when someone who knows absolutely squat about a subject, spouts off like there a expert, and keeps going when they have been proven wrong multiple times.
  15. Wind is just starting to ramp up here. Hopefully the power won't go out. Hope yours gets restored soon.
  16. I've killed most of my deer with coreloks. Recoverd dozens of slugs over the yrs that had great retention. Most of the boxes are probably 10+ yrs old, so can't comment on the newer stuff.
  17. Sounds like your a tad sensitive about being called out about not knowing squat about rifle calibers and ballistics.
  18. You should stop. You are not making yourself out to be very knowledgeable about hunting calibers. Which obviously your not.
  19. I'm not disputing that. How would he know that the deer would be dead if she used a 44 or 30-30? If the deer was hit in the vitals it would be dead within a 100 yrds. A larger caliber hit badly isn't necessarily going to kill a badly hit deer any faster. That said. Good luck. I really hope you find it. The rain definitely can't help things.
  20. Well, my point is how do you know if the deer would be dead if she had a 44 or 30-30? You don't. So why would you post that?
  21. CL, marketplace, want ad digest, Auto trader.
  22. That's his late father's rem 700. It did have a little damage from the fire, but a friend fixed it up as best as he could. I don't think he'll ever use any other rifle.
