  1. Trying to figure out where to go this afternoon if the rain stops. Not looking forward to a tree rocking in 40mph gusts. Good luck everyone.
  2. Shoot, built a bbq pit on site, and have one hell of a HNY GTG..
  3. Thank you for your service Redneck, and all those that have, and are serving.
  4. Hunt where the gals want to be.... FOOD. But hunting the bedding areas are a good option.
  5. Well, I picked one up. Rather impressed with it. Got it dialed in dead on at 40y. Even with the cocking rope shortened to the shortest possible length, I have a hard time cocking it with my bad shoulder. The cocking device is very helpful. I can even let it down. No more shooting it to uncock.
  6. I say let's get rid of the political thread. Implement a 1-2 and 3 your out tolerance policy. Keep a family friendly chuckle thread, and put EVERYONE on the same playing field. Yep Chef included.
  7. All I know is he was generous enough to give you a free bow and yet you still take shots at him every chance you get. Speaks volumes to your character. Wow, the only shots WE(chef and I) exchanged were political. So I guess that speaks volumes to his character and a whole lot of others on this forum. I have nothing against him personally. Never met the guy. But it does seem you have issues with me for some reason.
  8. Sorry. Chef lied to you. That bow is being used only by my nephew. I have never shot the bow myself. I've been shooting a PSE stinger X for several years. If you don't choose to believe me, that's on you. Also the fact that I've never been warned multiple times by the mods... Ain't that the pot calling the kettle black
  9. Multiple times seems a lot more than twice.
  10. I've got poor circulation in my feet also. No boot can keep my toes warm. The insoles work well for me.
  11. I've got the ThermaCELL heated insoles. Absolutely love them. Just difficult to find now.
  12. Don't blame them at all. This state is doing nothing but hurting there business. Should have left this shit hole long ago.
  13. I've spooked the same spike 4 times this week in my food plot. All 4 while walking in, he ran off. Had to bust him big time yesterday leaving my stand. Called in a big 6 yesterday, but a doe caught his attention, and he vered off. Today, missed a huge 8 minutes after spooking the same spike off the plot. Shot just under him.
  14. Yes, most had two washers. Was it the shooting rail that used 3 plastic washers? I snugged everything down until the metal tube just started to collapse/bend. Didn't experience the washer splaying out the sides. The ladder section's do make noise while climbing, but most of my ladder stand do.
  15. I didn't have that issue. Hunted both of these stands with zero pops, creeks or any wobbling or looseness at all.
  16. Shot many with .223, 22-250 to '06. And a few with some oddball and newer stuff. Wasted more meat with the '06, .270 then any of the smaller caliber's without hitting the shoulders. Just the blood shot that finds it's way between the muscles of the shoulders is incredible on the larger caliber's. Hit a deer in the hinds and clip the bone, the entire hind, both sides, will be a huge bowl of jello encased in fur regardless of caliber
  17. And there's the problem. Taking shots you shouldn't. I'm no sniper, but I've killed a lot of deer offhand and hit where I intended. Most shots were under 100 yrd.
  18. Wolc, you have no friggin clue what your talking about.
  19. So you're saying a .44 wouldn't have ruined the hind quarter? Either caliber would result with a hind quarter ruined. To the OP....If I only hunted thick stuff and no fields, I'd I'd pick the .44. If I hunted both fields and brush, .243 without hesitation.
  20. It's difficult in some circumstances. I've bumped deer already in the fields going in for a afternoon hunt. Definitely not going to walk through the woods bedding areas to hunt a field edge. Also have multiple deer in the field feeding after shooting light. I try to get down without spooking them, but sometimes they are only 30 yrds off.
  21. Congrats on the doe. Hopefully you'll recover the buck. Good luck.
