One would think cooler water would help with taste and consistency over warm water. Channel cats are what we catch in lake Champlain. A 20+ lber really puts up a tussle.

I've tried this exact technique. Didn't work. I've cleaned small ones and large ones. I'm thinking it's the muddy water they live in.

Here's a 23.6 lb cat I caught, but the weight in station frigged up and it was disqualified. It would have been the number 2 cat caught that yr.

I fish the lake Champlain international father's day tournament every year. ( LCI ) I've caught a 21+ lb cat. My buddy has caught a 25+ lb cat IIRC. We won some money with the 21 lb cat I think around 2002? My buddies 25+ a few yrs ago didn't even place. We've kept a few smaller cats to eat, and I'll never clean one again. Plain disgusting. However, if caught early spring, in Lake Champlain, there not bad.

I usually get holes chewed through em from mice or squirrels. Still usable, but a little added ventilation. In 25 yrs hunting the same property, we've never seen evidence of bears, but I've seen them only a few miles away. Love bear meat.

We're lucky. Neighbor has a pond on there property. We take the fur bags down for a swim all the time.

Yep. The specs say it only lasts 2weeks after mixing. I've used it 6 months later on my hunting clothing and my dogs. Zero ticks.

I get premethrin concentrate from tractor supply. Directions on the bottle. I'm sure Amazon has it too.

They are horrible this yr. I mix up my own spray. Sawyers is great, but it gets expensive.

We've had cocker spaniels little cousins, cavalier King Charles. Great dogs. Looking forward to seeing pics once you get her home.

Sorry to here about the wife's surgery. Glad she'll be OK. Moving sucks, but when it's in your forever home, I must make it much easier.

Well, we fished just below the dam in Troy. Then a little north of the patroon island Bridge. Didn't get a single striper hit. Oh well, had a good time and it was a beautiful day.

Buddy called and asked if I wanted to go. Ummmm....YA. He caught a couple 35"ers on Friday. Hopefully we'll hook into some big ones.
