  1. You have to practice for every scenario. Lol
  2. Hoping weather sticks to what it's calling for. My best spots might be good to go. Come on October 1st not getting here soon enough. I'll be in stand an hour early because I won't sleep
  3. I used to shoot the core-lok and now shoot the power shock. Both work great with 150 & 180 out of my 30-06. I switched because I couldn't find the core-lok one year and i will say I haven't had one move an inch with the power shocks where they would run a little with the core-loks
  4. The other nephew is 13 so we would be in a ground blind in a orchard. That's what we are hoping is to get them both on one the same time.
  5. Yes to all the above. That's why I asked because the person done to work said you can't bow hunt while someone in your hunting group is gun hunting. I didn't think it would be a big deal.
  6. I don't get to hunt unless it's a weekend or my vacation days so I take any chance I can to be out. I'll be getting out of work at 2am next Friday so I can sit in the morning and all weekend.
  7. Ok so one of my nephews is able to go youth weekend so I plan on setting him and his dad up. Now can I bow hunt a different section of the farm or stateland? What if his brother wants to bow hunt can we sit in a different section but on the same property? I was told no from someone I work with so just trying to get it clear so we are all legal.
  8. I also have the Halo going on 3 or 4 years it was a Christmas present but it was around 100. my only complaint is if its foggy it doesn't work well. out of the 5 of us that shoot together 4 have the halo and one has a high end vortex.
  9. That's why I took those shots to remind myself and to show my nephews why sometimes it's better to let them walk an extra 5-10yards. Those angles make a huge difference.
  10. It's the last weekend before the season starts and I always make sure I take my wife out to dinner. Doesn't hurt to wine and dine her before the season starts. She sees right through it because she knows what time of year it is. Lol
  11. Yea that's all you bud. I'm sure I can say for most of us is you can keep that as your participation trophy. Lol
  12. I like those different looking bucks. Nice deer and a great looking mount.
  13. She's really pretty. Her color is so cool.
  14. I was always told it's bad luck to take one. This isn't public property either and the owners said I can shoot anything but him unless he's injured. They like watching him and since I don't have to pay to hunt there and they are good family friends I agreed with them. Maybe if he makes it a year they might change their mind and maybe I will also. He was around all last year but I never saw him so he may get another year on him. However there are a shit load of road hunters in that area so time will tell. A sighting will be good enough for me.
  15. Yea I really hope I see him in person. However there's a lot of Amish in the area so he won't last long. It was there last year but never had a picture. It's been a good year already this guy on camera and saw a bear on a hike. I've been told he only hangs out on about 100acres never really leaves.
  16. Finally got him on camera. Not the best quality but I have him.
  17. In not familiar with Letchworth is the hunting any good? I hear it brought up a bunch.
  18. I've used huntstand going on 3 years now. Does everything I need it to do. I really do like using it on my laptop clearer images and I can still sync it to my phone so I get any updates from the field and computer regardless of what Im using.
  19. You can tell it's getting cold what little plants I had left in my garden my local doe and little buck finished everything off in 2 days except for the peppers. GMAN you are right though every farmer around me is going as fast as they can. One had hay down Tuesday and I think he said screw it because it's still down and he's been chopping corn ever since.
  20. I used to shoot 100 arrows or more a week. I did when i got my new bow this year but that was to figure out grip and just to get comfortable with it. Besides shooting Sundays i might shoot 2 or 3 times a week just a handful of shots. Focusing on quality over quantity now and once i start shooting poor the bow goes up for a day or 2. Also once a week ill shoot my bow during the season.
  21. Depends. Hit location, deers reactions after the shot, weather, light. Good rule is 30 mins. But once you get to hit sight that can change from going right after it to having guts and liver and needing to wait 12 hrs. All else fails give it more time ig possible instead of less.
