My favorite deer rifle is my 30/30. In fact I sold all but my 30/06 since I just carry it most Everytime. This is my big year for plots. Last year was the first and we dabbled a bit. But then we had record amounts of rain and it washed a whole area we did out. This year we plan to do 3 small spots and one slightly larger. If it works we will most likely continue next year. If not we will just frost seed clover hard and hunt what we have with that. The largest spot will be about 35 yards wide and about 50 yards long. Gonna be a lot of work with the equipment we have but should be interesting. (Pic of area). as much as i hate to say it...... if these go thru and stand up, from what i am seeing, i will prob give up my permit. I carry maybe 1-2 times a year. Just not worth the hoops, then the flaming hoops to jump thru. Has to always be locked in a safe in a vehicle, cant carry to locations unless they are posted as approving to carry, recertification every three years, more classes, etc.... (dunno if all these are in there but this is what i am hearing) F that. Yes they win but i just wont deal with it for what its worth to me.

ive got a spot this year that i havent been able to hunt in three years that may get me in the tree more early season. Usually its a green field and right around Oct 1 the local farmer puts their cows out there, but this year it is a cornfield! Its a bit of a drive and i can only really hunt it in afternoons and need an eastbound wind. But it will play into my early season for a doe. If i can take one there to fill the freezer - which is the #1 goal - then i can work the rest of the season at my regular spot for a buck.
