X2 on the porcupine on the shredded ones and very possible if near a river some high water damage. They don't make me think rubs. Lots of porcupine around these days. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

Not really breakfast.... But an experimental pie. Made a savory apple pie topped with white cheddar and crumbled bacon. My Dad always had sharp cheese with apple pie so that was the thinking here. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

Roe vs Wade

I have always preferred rowing over wading. Used to row the small aluminum boat all over those Adirondack lakes. Wading l usually end up falling in the crick at least once, or smashing a knee on a rock Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk -

Knew it was gonna be dropped today. Which makes sense, drop it on a Friday and get out of dodge for the judges. Prob be violence in cities tonite, gives people a reason now to be violent. Hope they are all arrested! Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk -

I put mine out last week basically because it's just fun to look at pics. But for where I hunt it does me no good for hunting bucks til season. I get one or two buck pics usually at best in the summer then once season starts the bucks show up. I just put them on main runs. I can see why you would get them out on public though. To figure what area your going to concentrate on. But patterns change so much from summer to fall I wouldn't put a ton of stock into summertime pics. I would prob be more interested in areas that have lots of does and usually have fall food sources as they will bring the bucks in the fall. My two cents ..... Your damn good at the scouting game for sure! Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

The mayflies are def hatching and might put the bite down a bit. Ive found to run a line higher in the water column sometimes is a big winner then. Algae hasnt been bad at all yet. I also run worm harnesses and slow troll with the trolling motor. Been doing well in 21-27 feet and running 1.0-1.2 MPH. Guys have def been doing well out off those shoals on the North side. I will be out tomorrow too out of the SE end. Sent you a PM. @Daveboone Good luck!

Supreme Court ruling NYS

The Dems don't even understand what it means. They truly think it's now easier for people who do bad things to conceal a weapon. It's pure cluelessness. Amazing. And they put it out that way and those that don't legally own guns just swallow it whole. For my pistol app the only thing you could be approved to carry for was hunting, hiking, fishing and target. They tell you at the pistol office not to put self defense or home protection cause you will be denied. I even have that stamped on my permit as hunting, fishing , hiking and target. Total BS. its booming! So far its keeping up with 2020 which was the best year ive ever seen. Didnt fish last weekend as it was too windy. Weekend prior 2 man boat limit by 8am Sat, then Sun i went out and had a limit in an hour. I think your on the north end and i hear off of godfrey and the shoals have also been good. Lol - TF is a good salesman, he should be on QVC. Im having a yard sale in August both will most likely be available to add to your fleet if you change your mind. i also have a large toaster oven i will throw in the deal. I am not totally unsold on the sous vide yet as i wanted to try it for duck breast. But i can say the 3-4 hours for a venison loin that i had to sear in cast iron anyway was no better than it usually is. The air fryer is a huge disappointment luckily that was a gift. Im gonna pass on the griddle. I can see an advantage for a large group out camping or tailgating but at home for me, sometimes the GF and the dog not so much. Im gonna stick with the grill, smoker, pizza stone, 2 deep fryers, can cooker and cast irons. You need to add one of these to your fleet!

i got suckered into the air fryer and the sous vide machine this way, not falling for it again. Only need so many boat anchors. lol

If your in Oneida co there is quite a bit of state land near by. Northern tier can be tough but there are def some areas to hunt. Dunno if your a bow hunter or not but it's the best time of year and less pressure. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

To first hunt trophy bucks you will need to find them. Do you know they exist in the areas your hunting/scouting now? I can tell you my spot might have 2-3 a year pass thru that I would consider a trophy, but I try to get something that is 5 points or better as my personal goal. I think it's different for each person. My first goal is to get a deer in the freezer and hopefully that's an early doe. Then I try to play cat and mouse for a decent buck. There is a big difference too in how to hunt them pending your location and even the specific area your in. For instance if your in the Adirondacks generally tracking and a lot of boot mileage is needed, if you hunting heavy pressured land then finding the areas they think are safe, if your hunting on farmland maybe it's just being over food for many days and hope the does bring them thru. It's all about learning the hunting area and what's available. There sure isnt any guarantee you'll even see a big buck. Cams can be a big help but at my spot I will hardly get more than a buck or two on cam all summer. But once fall comes around that all changes and I will get 8-10. I am far from a great trophy hunter but have a lot of time in the woods. The best advice I can give is to enjoy the chess match and time in the woods. Have realistic expectations yet always think that big one could come out at anytime. Get to know the area you hunt as best you can and spend time over target in only the right wind direction. The time around the rut prob gives the best chance for a big one from end of Oct to mid Nov. Unless you've got one pattered. The biggest bucks also tend to be more active at night and hard to get daylight eyes on. Good luck and look forward to hearing stories about your hunting experiences this year. 60# is far more than needed anyway. Shoot what makes you the most steady and comfortable for poundage.
