no rocks - sorry . We have to use stands on real small trees even if they are only 7-9 ft high so you can see for gun season at all. Only really one or two spots on trail straightaways that can be gun hunted at all from the ground. Have a groundblind setup this year though right by parking spot for quick evening hunts with the bow. this is a pic of my favorite gun spot (did move stand 40 yards in Jan to face better direction) - have to get up a little to see over the swamp or your FOV is about a 12ft circle. - its brushy ! this pic was in Jan - imagine now with leaves etc. We went over there two weekends ago and couldnt see the stand at all from 25 yards. Cant hunt this stand with bow at all. -

120 acres, zero elevation- flat as a pancake. And almost zero trees. All brush and swamp for the most part. If trails werent cut it would almost be unhuntable it so thick at least until late season. Park in back of barns by my truck. -

mapped out stands on lease. One to move this weekend and done til season. gotta put new straps on 3 stands in Augusta too and move my one stand in 7J over a couple of trees. -
I think its prob part of their overall entertainment plan. They have a high end golf course too that rarely gets played but it helps bring in high end gamblers. They prob make zero off the golf and hunting and fishing but make it back at the tables .

its not even 10 minutes from my office. Locals say they started it to try and help bring in big time country performers. Which i have my doubts it would do that as these guys can go anywhere they want why come to NY ... Also heard it hasnt done very well but am sure it isnt advertised who goes there. They sure own so much land around here thousands and thousands of acres. Would seem they could make hunting lodges here without the high fence but this is prob easier and maybe more cost effective.

seems nuts to me, but to each their own. Have heard this place wasnt very successful - but who really knows for sure http://oneidaindiannationoutfitters.com/preserve-rates

Pulled the trigger on a deer rifle
Robhuntandfish replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Hunting buddy has this in a 308. Trying to get him to do trigger spring. I fired his at the range and that's a heavy trigger for sure. I think it hurts his accuracy and he isn't the best shot to begin with. -
Is it time to put in for rutcation yet?

cmon really...... I mean isnt that why its a June bride and the most popular month for weddings .... cause its right after Turkey season and before hunting season. -
I did feel sorry for you last year....esp early nov when i hadnt slung an arrow yet! lol I am checking this site at 7:25 am Oct 1 to see if youve "Sent it" yet! But yeah I just enjoy hunting too , always like to get that early doe for meat then play around for a buck after. And i can understand - I would prob be pacing and fit to be tied if tagged out and the rut was going on - just like to hunt.
-
just bought ones for this season for the xbow. Those bolt things are damn hard to find after a pass thru! lol,. Ive lost 2 them last season and my buddy comes back with them later in season each time. They were easy to install just like replacing any nock (these were the capture nocks), and i figure if they are hard to shut off thats a good problem to have cause i just shot! lol
-
the first pack I got I split them with a buddy and we used the arrow with the lighted nock for afternoon/evening hunts only. and wanted to try them out. Now i have them on arrows and crossbow bolts.

you planned having a baby better than these people having a wedding! Who gets married in the rut...... -
That is awesome. He def hit the jackpot. Keep us posted. Or maybe he could join up here and start a thread. That would be great

Def agree. The eggs I make go in the fridge and they don't last too long esp during fishing season. Come back off the water and have a beer and pickled eggs and venison snack sticks.

Thanks, I often make mustard eggs like that and they turn yellow. These ones were hot pepper.

Nice cabin and some land
Robhuntandfish replied to G-Man's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
thats kinda what I did. Bought a cottage on the lake and its 6 minutes from hunting lease. Just minus the downstate condo. one of my buddies is thinking about doing that out in the Norwich area. Just park a camper on some land he might inherit and use it as a camp. Less town/reg hassles and upkeep. - I told him great- I already have to decide between three units I hunt to put in for doe permits- might as well add another - lol Always nice to have a getaway. When I had a camp only a handful of people ever knew where it was. Some college buddies once tried to find me while i was there for a weekend. Funny thing was they were within 200 yards of it at one point!. And they had quite an adventure looking for it. I brought them up a couple of times later for some hunting weekends. -

I sure miss the little camp i used to have on Chase lake. But also prob wouldnt buy another. If I was gonna invest would just buy land with a house on it instead of having upkeep on two places. But I sure had some great times at camp. I looked at and considered a couple north of Camden/Florence/Osceola area but just figured leasing land is easier and less expensive. Plus i spend a lot of the summer on the lake and in the fall the hunting isnt as good up there as it is in Southern zone. If I ever did it would go with just a base camp with no electric/water - maybe one of those Amish sheds. Camp was great until you had two septics, two roofs, two sets of water lines, two yards to rake etc...... -

looks like a big un. Do you have any problems with bears so close to the house? Buddy of mine in Owego has been woken up at night and had a bear on his deck at the sliding glass door. Would you shoot a bear if one comes by the stand?
