  1. https://bowlogic.com/arrows/grim-reaper-whitetail-special-review/ Never seen more damage than these do. I have shot and liked the way rage work. But hate them popping out of collars. So went to these and love them.
  2. Have tried a few. Rage were fine but hated those collars. Be sitting in tree and look at one side of it flopped out of collar. What a pita. Esp if walking thru brush. My absolute favorite are the grim reaper whitetails. Mechanical 3 blades and a solid tip to punch through. Leaves a huge wound in and out. And they stay together til impact. I wouldn't use them on low poundage bow and would go with a muzzy for that. But I have had such great luck with them. All I shoot for practice now is their practice tips that come with a 3 pack.
  3. I am one of the many Robs but I am also Moogs stunt double! I am trying out all of his treestands this year for safety, for just a nominal fee and a cull buck! Since we are all divulging our alter egos here.......I am also willing to be Chefs official taste tester for anything he cooks, as well as a second confirmation of beer quality for TF if need be, and hopefully a worthy first mate on Treeguys yacht! I would also stand in as Pygmys second but I dont think I could keep up with him!
  4. Cow rubbed backstrap and shrooms and Italian beans. Excellent!
  5. saw this on a maine moose outfitter site - one moose all packaged up - wow! lol
  6. hope you get a shot at him. Looks to be a good one. Those pics will help you get up in the morning during season for sure.
  7. two headed buck?? freaky ! do you live near the power plant?
  8. have two treestands to move. One just moving it about 10 yards for a better shot window. The other moving to other side of property and will be a whole new setup. Have to do some clearing and cutting (have to get chainsaw working again first!) . Then cams out first weekend of August. BUt all that holds off til it is under 90 degrees! Prob a lot of that work will be done in Sept . But out of 13 stands not too bad of shape to be ready
  9. Couldn't really fish all weekend because of wind. Glad I had Monday off. 34-40 fow.
  10. When the wind let's me on the lake....
  11. Happy dog birthday! My uncle used to have a dog that threw a fit when the ice cream truck came by til he got his ice cream!
  12. Sorry didn't mean to bring ya down. That brought up nothing but great memories! My Dad and I out trout fishing every morn and then BBQ at camp after. Was such great times. Loved our little camp in the woods. It wasn't much but had great times there. Could walk down to chase lake to swim and fish, and hunted some in the area. Lots of great trout streams. My uncle had a camp next door and we knew a few people that camped there. We would play nickel dime poker half the night and laugh and have a few beers. Was thirty years ago and seems like yesterday. Anyway won't muddy up the dinner thread with my ramblings....lol. But we used to have a trout and bacon and eggs for breakfast many a day!
  13. Pizza and beer .... I know crazy right. I actually have stuff that just can't be together instead. I dont like Maple syrup on pancakes , I like butter and a soft egg instead on top. But I like Maple syrup on vanilla ice cream. I also don't like strawberry shortcake cause biscuits are meant for gravy! Angel food cake goes with strawberries. Oh and ketchup on hotdogs is communism.
  14. That gave me a memory of a long time ago... Every weekend in the summer was spent with Dad at camp. Glad u get to enjoy those times.
  15. New treestand up on lease property. Kept seeing deer cross in this area last season but 100 yards from nearest stand. So tucked in a short stand to give a try. Didn't get all the cutting done had a chainsaw chain jumped and of course I forgot to bring any tools to fix it. But stand is up , just need to go back and do some cutting.
  16. Main deer rifles ready for season. Put new scopes on them this year so had to dial them in. Good to go. 30/30 will see the most woods time. I don't bother with the muzzleloader or shotgun for now. I now they are good to go. But got this put of the way . Got to start a little bow shooting soon. On the way to range had to jump on the brake to miss an otter crossing the road. Right by a swamp and Creek just about a 1.5 from the house. Was cool to see , glad I didnt hit it.
  17. Ugh that sucks. They putting in housing? Hope it holds out and/or you can find another spot.
  18. You gonna lose your hunting spot? That sucks.
  19. You can tell from pic that lake is too rough this morn.... Really wanted to fish today. But breakfast and a dog walk it is. Try again tomorrow. Flags straight out at 5:30 am is a no go.
  20. I'd fish that narrow at the South side of lake that goes into main lake from 30-20 ft. Small pond with brookies and bows, I would use worms on slip bobber or small spinners like Pygmy said. A lot of those lakes won't allow you to use minnows. So be sure before you try that. It is possible to get an evening topwater bite for bows so bring that fly rod in case. And can troll streamers with that. My best advice would be lake clear wobbler and a worm on light line behind it on a slow troll Good luck.
