what NY trips do you have planned for 2018?
Robhuntandfish replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Chit Chat
Good timing . Lol me and two buddies are having a fishing weekend on the 16th. Last year in mid to late June tore up the jack perch and a few eyes to go with it. 10-13 inch perch. 25 -35 ft of water. Remind me before and will let you know how it's going and where . Last year was Dixie spinner and worms and floating jigheads and half a worm rigged Carolina style. And we were on the southeast end. -

Dunno what time of year ypur going but last year the blue green algae closed a lot of beaches for a long time. And the lake was really green a lot. Kinda sucked. Hope for a better year this year. I live and fish on the far east side of the lake for the most part , but would pass along any tips or areas I can. -

I think the tendency nowadays is the exact opposite. More parents are afraid of guns and wouldnt let their kid even touch one esp non hunters. And most hunters that have kids are responsible with a gun and its use.

it is said 90% of people in the US would die in the first year without electricity. I would make it only cause I would be so pissed that my beer was warm!

i do the same thing. I research a big trip , then i just dont do it cause dont want to spend the $ . I look at trips out west for elk or to Newfoundland for moose etc. Sounds like a great time but cant pull the trigger, so to speak. I always apply for a couple of draw tags for a do it yourself hunt - Maine Moose and PA Elk but chances are wont never get a tag. -

i have one more planned but its top secret! lol Ive been sworn to secrecy by 4 other guys . We go there every year opening weekend of Pike season and usually get at least one 40+ inch Northern. In many years of fishing there on opening weekend have seen one other boat. This is my biggest yet and ended up on the wall. I live on Oneida lake and the walleye opener is a big deal here for sure, but always go to this spot for northerns for one day. Lots of places in NY to catch big northerns but we always have the lake to ourselves.- 69 replies

My little slice of heaven

one of the spots I hunt is only 12 acres and In reality its only about 100 yards by 30 yards cause most of it is fenced in and leased to a farmer for cows. I can hunt one little corner of it and just got permission to hunt there this last season. First evening out got a doe! Doesnt need to be big to be productive. -
One of my fishing buddys took his Dads boat out for the first time and almost sunk it at 40. His Dad said maybe they would try again when he was 50. I remember when I was 10 i had a BB gun and chased red squirrels though the woods. I dont think they set a minimum age because there are laws that if your menacing with a firearm it covers every age. Dont need a law for everything or need to be told everything by the govt. Sometimes it can be left up the parents. For instance if there was this law it would determine at what age your child can shoot a target BB gun. We dont need it. Plenty of laws to cover bad things that are done with guns. If a kid is walking thru town brandishing a firearm there are plenty of other things to get them on and chances are it isnt for a good reason if they arent in the woods. Minimum age is set for hunting because there are required classes and permits to obtain for hunting and have to show some sort of ID and proof of age etc.
