I use factory broadheads "as is" for hunting and relegate used broadheads to "practice". I have replaced broadhead blades in the past when replacement blades were available. I am not confident in my ability to sharpen a broadhead better than the manufacturer does. I haven't been able to get any of my knives "scary sharp", even my fillet knife which is pretty darn sharp is not scary sharp like what I see some folks are able to do on various youtube videos. I may need my man card revoked, but I can only get to servicably sharp when I touch up my knives. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Sorry to hear you got banged up. The harness did its job, but still puts a hurting on you. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of the need to be safe this season. Get better soon. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

About 20 yds. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I am surprised that the manufacturer would not quote the outside dimension of the limbs. Seems like a harmless enough question. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

That looks like a honey hole. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I am not a x-bow user, but if axle to axle is 16", I doubt the limb to limb will be more than 16.5". Maybe ask the manufacturer to quote the critical outside limb dimension. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Good luck Tom and thanks for the service you and the pups provide. Besides your recovery services, you've helped me (and probably others) make better decisions after the shot. So again, thank you. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I don't see it as a contest. It will not change a thing about the way I hunt or what I shoot. I speak for myself only, but think most will do the same. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

@Outdoorstom and the pups will have a great season helping hunters recover deer. Enjoy following that thread each year. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I didn't even need to adjust the sights. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Thanks Hockey. I thought paper tuning would be a PITA, but it wasn't. Haven't tried with broadheads, but the paper confirmed that I needed a little tweak on the rest. I'd recommend that everyone who's been procrastinating like me, just do it. It really wasn't difficult or time consuming and there are lots of videos on youtube. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I've found that fixed blades penetrate better than mechanicals. I've also found that fixed blades tend to have a different point of impact than field points, while mechanicals tend to fly like field points. Maybe my bows haven't been tuned properly, but that's been my experience, albeit limited to a few different broadheads, bows and arrows. I started hunting with fixed blades and would adjust my sights to suit just before hunting season, but then I'd hardly practice during the season. I switched to mechanicals about 10 yrs ago and practice more often during the season, since the mechanicals fly like field points. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

X2 just put another twist in the string. It should not affect anything. Had a similar problem with my peep and that was what the bow shop did to fix it. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Speaking of FSW, isn't it time for him to post some deer porn? Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Enjoy your retirement! Best wishes and good luck with the new property. My kids are grown and both are talking about moving, then there will be nothing to keep me here. Even if the kids don't move, I'll probably retire and get outta here in 6 yrs or so. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Saw a bachelor group in the woodlot behind my house. Could not get a good look at 3 of them, 2 were shooters, if they could be hunted there (they can't). Even the little guys were 6 or 8 points. The biggest was at least 11 points and I'd guess 140 gross. Not a clear photo, even though taken at 10 yds, while using cigar smoke as a cover scent. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

I have an API Grand Slam aluminum. Not sure if they make them anymore. Comfy, stable & roomy, but about 5 pounds heavier than a Summit. If I buy another climber, it will be a Summit. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

Nyslowhand, I can't speak for all brands, but for Johnson/Evinrudes built in the 90's the carb rebuild kits are still available, both OMC and aftermarket Sierra. The carb bodies or complete assemblies on the other hand are tough to find new, but come up used occasionally online on ebay, etc. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
