Big kangaroo vs a man with a good right hook
vizslas replied to philoshop's topic in General Chit Chat
that roo didnt flinch.I think he was just shocked that the guy slugged him just like that. He barley had time to square up before buddy slaped that snot out of his nose . hahahaaaa -
agreed I have driven countless miles in storms so i could watch trees all day. i am hunting north tomorrow near Medina just enough snow for the odd to switch to my favor. fortunately i can hunt from the southern tier to the northern tier to optimize my chances

i feed the tongues to the dogs along with the deer ears i boil the fur off and bake the ears for the dogs ..A lot of people dont know that their is a lot of good meat on the face. my field knife is too sharp for skinning i end up cutting through the hide more often than not
-
i use one. my Gerber folder. it just that its as sharp as a scalpel. i got a couple nicks on my hands to prove it. so i dont use it to butcher my deer or for a skinner . i know i stuck my other straight blade Gerber in the photo i used to use it for the skinner before i got my cary lite from my dad after he passed a couple years ago. guilty as charged..i also have the four inch fillet with the gator grip its a shitty fillet knife don't buy it.

i dont know maybe look up near the top of this page or the last. and anyway how many knives do you need to field dress over the years. i have one from when i i was a kid and a twenty year old Gerber. Christ you can only use one knife at a time my gerber goes to the field and my carry lite now stays at home and does the de boning. i got one for cutting the legs off i got one for cutting off the ears and one for cutting out the tongue

how is it that I take offense the post was show us your field dressing knife not show us your collection of knives

there has been a lot of very nice looking field tools on here I am sure everyone can tell the real knives from the ones that sit in the house on some wooden shelf 365 days a year. you know the ones that never need to see a sharpening stone. it seems this tread got hijacked by a couple guys trying to show of their show knives...I hope you get the recognition you truly deserve.I sharpened lots of knives last night when this thread started, talk about coincidence. I tuned up two six inch J Martini fillet knives and a 4 inch one. An old steel kitchen steaking knife ,damn thing takes a great edge .i picked that up for .50 cents at a yard sale. You sure can find some good steel every now and then. a butcher knife and finally my field knife a twenty year old Gerber stud gator its a four inch folder Those bone handles sure make for a sexy knife.i had a case when i was about eleven. like I said had.

i know but what he was doing to that hind quarter was just a dirty shame...slicing through all those different muscles to get a steak I used to hunt with a couple fellas that cut up the hind quarters like he did in the video. My buck from Monday is still just hanging around.tenderizing as we speak....

watch that field Right now Bucks need to eat Now that there is a lot less free feed they will be there longer. and maybe early enough to get a shot at one. The bean field I hunt was just cut late last week. i saw my buck on Monday the only deer that came to the field.and the only one to get a free ride out of the field. The does will come and the bucks will follow

Go Go stud gator. I use my folder for a field dressing knife only the gator grip is real nice to hang on to, so much as I bought another one. Now the other one the straight blade has been replaced by Gerber. What happened you see was while i was carving up a really cold deer on a really cold day and as i was working on the rear leg the knife broke a crescent piece out of the blade. after about three tears or so I finally called Gerber and sent it back I had a brand new knife in a month..Great day.Anyway as far as the gator grips go i also have the 4 inch fillet knife The stacked handle knife is a Norwegian Carry-lite. This knife has been retired from the field as the leather is starting to show some wear around the bend, where it goes over the handle of the knife. I would hate to loose it as it is the knife I used to wear on my hip as a kid some 35 years ago. However since it is such a great blade i keep just enough edge on it and use it as a skinning knife. It holds a edge so well I usually never have to sharpen it. Best knife ever.

whenever i put any kind of cleaner down the barrel i clean the breach plug with a drill bit. Now i might leave dirty for the whole month it just depends ... well it just depends on the weather and the in and out of the house. but i blow a cap or two. and then just fire one off . Then one dry swab and its ready to hunt. slam a bull for two more shots then a dry swab or two and three more in the bull repeat dry swab three more bulls. Now i shoot blackhorn 209 with Winchester primers they fit the tightest in my breech plug... tried a pile of them... anybody wanna buy some primers... but I shoot a Barnes 245 grain and 112 grains volumetrically . I would say that most of my powder burns up quite well and as far as the crud ring goes . I honestly dont know I have shot a dozen or more in a row and have no problem seating the bullets to the same place every time... ok it gets harder but they all go. Sometimes you just gotta bring your man hands hahahaa so as far as any thoughts ommmm yes your barrel is lubed up with solvents and oils. a dry dirty barrle causes way more drag than a clean barrle so your pressure peaks at different places in the barrle and thus you get a flyer . whats happening i believe is it just doesnt grab onto the lands and grooves andthus different point of impact every time. i like to keep my muzzleloader in what i call Honey Mode...Oh Honey its shoot good now.. Its kinda hard on the barrle but hey there are always new muzzleloaders on the shelf.

Thanks for all the votes on the deer. Yes he was a nice size body and a pretty good size on his neck, it measured 26 inches.About two inches less than a fat necked 8 point i shot a decade or so ago. So just for shits and giggles I have decided to Euro mount this reckless brawler. It will be a nice reminder of the 200 yard heart attack. with my 50 cal. that guns been good to me this year two doe at 120 yards and a 200 buck all in the same field. My new grinder just came yesterday. I sure do like summer sausage ...none of this might never have happened so a shout out to my dad . thanks Pops....

hey doc i dont blame you at all... i would have done the same thing. the girl across the street from my mom has a chicken killing husky . something like thirty of them. Some how she saved it from an untimely death. my dogs are well trained i can turn my Vizsla's loose in a field and not worry about them. but listen to me. Once i turn them loose they are on their own ...... out of my control....Fortunately with the time and effort i have put into them they rarely if ever are they leashed up.And if i hunt rabbits with them they wear a bell so I know where they are at all times.. had some issues inn a state park when they were young but after a bout twenty minutes they came back. with a couple thorn apple stickers stuck in one of them. ouch. they were young but they again made their own choices....

Today i was getting jittery at work. After mulling it over I decided to hit the boss with the question... Hey man can get out early sure he says. right on my boss is just about as cool as a rock-star. So I gave thanks and was out . No camo today , Blue Jeans and a green hoodie with work boots. I was glassing the wood line and noticed some funny looking branches i kept on glassing and i saw them odd looking branches again. Now i am thinking something is just not right down there so i pull up my scope and sure as shit ,there he is just standing peeking his head out. He stood facing me for about five minutes then finally he afforded me a small window of his side as he stepped out into the freshly mowed bean field.Just as fast as that he took it away as fast as he showed it. Now he is at best quartering to me at 200 yards. then he did it again he turned and showed me a perfect pose. right leg back covering the heart. Pow i squeezed one off. well after the smoke cleared all i saw was an empty field. he went in the same place he came out and began his forty yard death run. The shot broke the right front leg at the shoulder blade and leg joint went through the heart and made a nice drain hole just about three inches before the breastplate ends at the stomach. thank goodness for cell phones and the flashlight that they have. I had no knife no flashlight... all the way back to the truck.... so i drove the truck back . my drag was only about a forty yards, it wasnt fun though grape vines and briares shit that sticks to your clothes, the dry swamp is full of them. i got some picking to do tomorrow

200 yards with my triumph, Blackhorn 209 with a Barnes bullet right through the heart he ran forty yards. Broke the shot side leg and exited out in the Brest plate just before the cartridge starts by the diaphragm.

I know completely well where my rights start and stop. I have no problems with my dogs. birds on the other hand look out. Sorry you couldn't keep your sheep safe. maybe you should have had a guard dog. instead of shooting the dogs. Are saying your a dog shooter?
