My oil changed and brought home a nice doe. sweet kill to birds in one day now that's efficient. This was taken at the car. Thank goodness the wind died down a bit . I wasn't feeling to confident watching the trees blow around. sweet season i filled all but one doe tag -

yuck the ice monster. i went to Wyoming county yesterday morning. You can drive in snowy windy conditions, well a couple people could not ha-ha dumb asses piled up on the thruway. Anyway i have a metal detector and i think i should find the bullet that exited through the sternum of the buck i dropped last week. I think i saw the spot where it went in now that i think about it and went over it in my head. Then get the oil changed today at two o'clock then i am off to try again . going to sit in my hut for the last hour. and try to stay away from spooking anything making its way to the field. -

Ok here is another one for the thread... I got this guy after skipping out of work early I was sitting in my ground blind when four walked out at 210 yards. They made it to 170 and thats when I made my choice on witch one to shoot , mama and the babies or the four point. well you see who lost the draw. dropped him.- 16 replies

Ever since the wind broke I have been itching to get out. Well today is Friday and I am thinking, that what a better day to take off an hour early from work Perfect day to hunt, at least that's what i am thinking. The boss gave me the go ahead and I split Now Its snowing pretty good by the time i get on stand, and the field i am watching is a cut bean field 200yards deep by 185 yards wide. The ground blind sits front and center of this field, next to a couple of clumps of hard woods. After a half hour or so i look right and to my amazement what do I see as I watch the far wood-line through the snow are four tiny white tail deer stepping out. Now there were two yearlings and a doe with a four point. i pondered what to do as i packed up my gear in anticipation for my next move witch I was sure at this point was going to be going down there to see what happened.after the shot well after i decided to shoot the buck and leave the mama to her babies I waited for the shot. I ranged them at 170 yards. The buck was stubborn about it. finally he offered me a good shot at his vitals. pa pow goes the muzzle loader. The young bucks drops to the ground and the others stood there in amazement, by the time I got another bullet down the barrel they were gone. So I go finish my business.check the range again from the gut pile and it sure was 170 yards. So here I am all packed up and dragging and I look up and there are 6 deer standing there. Shame there were houses on the other side and a road. I told them to split thanked them for a good year and then wished them well. one stayed for a few seconds as the other ones ran off, he joined them eventually. Again here I am dragging a deer through the field and I stop to look behind me and what do I see . Hmmm I think coyote.maybe i should prime her back up. , nope more deer. two this time. they never left the field. after a bit i walk back to the car and check the field one more time . Low and behold its the mother of all deer conventions. Sixteen or so deer just standing about 150 yards or so from the front of my car just doin what deer do . Crazy that they all seemed to give a rats ass that I was there.

right because the drunken dike would have been a much better choice . She would have gained Millions if she was elected. Wait scratch that billions. Then we would have had to foot the bill for a library dedicated to her. Makes me sick to think about it. -
Thats how you get it done during Muzzle loader season great job and good shootin

2016 HuntingNY Muzzleloader Harvest thread
vizslas replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Muzzleloaders
i for got to put this here this buck was a week ago... I saw this bruiser late in the day . He was the only deer in the field at 200 yards. It took him a couple minutes to turn for the good broad-side shot He came straight out of the back ,the north end. My blind is set up at the base of some trees at the front of the field, the south end. Ka-pow he went 40 yards . Heart shot, broken right front shoulder. The right antler is broken off he was most likely an eight. small thin tines really no mass at all but he was a good bodied deer I hope my muzzle loader is a girl because I just love that gun- 16 replies

Check your nuts and bolts.make sure your scope base on your shotgun is not screwed up. I think i blew mine at the range. the threads are shot on the front hole. so my scope pointed left of my barrel .cost me a gut shot buck that walked by my stand and at least two or three doe.i am going to switch to a b square.

i shot one of them big does one year. Her feet were on the rafters and her head was almost touching the floor. I never weighed a deer but holy crap her head was as big as a mule.. almost. Yup and i did call my buddy to bring a four wheeler to camp , still a struggle to get her out. Shot her in Centerville. She stood right up in front of me with another one as a friend of mine and I were coming up the hillside from the creek bottom. I swung up the muzzle loader and flipped my scope cover open as all i could see was snow, and to my surprise she was still there. I gave it to her, but before the bullet got there it skipped off of a tree, what luck.one more inch to the right and things would have been very different . I have had to many run ins with small trees. Same hillside and i had a buck come through the woods and boy did that tree take it tough.

get a Lansky sharpening kit. That is just the bottom line. just get the Lansky. i have been sharpening since i was a kid and honestly after crock sticks many stones a chefs choice and a few other sharpening devices i always go back to the Lansky same edge every time you just cant screw it up perfect edge with regular stones kitchen knives to fillet knives works like a charm
