  1. We have some nice material left here. Now, if we could only sew it together.
  2. Tree stand falls are more common than shooting incidents. Heart attacks happen quite often, but they won't make the list.
  3. We're seeing high scraping and rubbing activity for this time of the year. High deer activity and numbers too. Where did all the hunters go? Not many shots heard in days. Three weeks to long for most. Deer observed all 150 + yards out. Being in a no rifle area, the muzzleloader is the go to tool. Some excellent late season hunting.
  4. We eat swamp bucks quite often Grow. Some can be quite strong. Some can be tough. Try taking a steak and soaking in Pepsi over night. It will take the strong gammy taste right out.
  5. Last afternoon saw 23 deer show like ducks in an arcade game; either out of range or after sunset. Flocking?
  6. 1 1/8" was standard OEM. 1 3/8" is the newer version. Overrunning clutch is held in by a roll pin centered. CT sell the made in India bronze versions which are rated for 20hp.. Black clutches are rated for 60hp and more money. Have seen the cheaper sheer off.
  7. It sure is nice to read everyone comments. Nice sit yesterday in the thick of it. Five fawns before sunset. All the adults, thrashing in the cover waited till darkness to show. Watching this next weather front moving in. Be out a few hours before, as deer should be on their feet.
  8. Buffalo latest one inch snowfall record is January 3rd 1923; I hope we break this record this season.
  9. I can't say for the rest of the state, but in our area, deer went into a more nocturnal state second to the last week of bow. We seen shooters, just half hour forty five minutes before and after legal sunrise, sunset. Historically, this is the time of the year when we harvest big bucks. Remember, ninety percent of the shots are blanks. Theirs some mighty fine deer hunting left out there. Catch'em off guard. Get out and get you one!
  10. One more comment, people this is excellent time to be out hunting deer.
  11. I didn't want to push a like. I am watching this thread very closely though.
  12. Hunting a new spot this afternoon hasn't been hunted in a number of years. Signs are everywhere .Had to cut out a 2" poison ivy vine, this morning which grew across the seat of the stand, which is still in nice shape. New rachets and chain on and good to go. It's very thick in there, except for a shooting lane that still usable. By the looks of the trail, this is where the deer are.
  13. I think their is about 70 to 80 pounds of deboned venison hanging. Some mighty fine eating!
  14. Cousin took his first deer ever; big body spike this morning. 20 gauge open sights. First time player. Will post it up when I get done feeding my face.
  15. Cousin got his ever first deer this morning, a buck; 20 gauge, open sights.
  16. I'll be the first to say I'm protesting the doe only area that the DEC. recklessly implemented in our area. It's all changed in attitude for us, this year because of it.
  17. A most rewarding experience doing the work yourself from kill to finish product.
  18. For what it's worth, I date my signs to show I have been there checking to make sure name, address, and phone numbers are good. Got a call in October from a neighbor asking to go in and find a deer. I feel phone numbers do help and keep some honest.
  19. I had a trespasser push me in two big doe, then scare them away
  20. She'll keep overnight, Might be a little bloated, but at that temp, the meat will be fine. Hunt in the morning, then go get your deer. I've taken two home sometimes.
  21. I would like to forget the sunset times, if I were that way. I had a shooter buck in at 5:14 pm. yesterday and could only sit there and watch him play with a buck fawn at 90 yards.
