  1. Their are times when I'm in the stand at 4 in the morning. I stay till I'm darn good and ready to leave.
  2. It was sure nice out this morning. Hope you didn't miss it. Beautiful sunrise. Oh and plenty of deer too!
  3. My son's deer, 23 yard shot right through the heart. Very little tracking job. Nice size frame on this animal. Had been shot, just below the spine some weeks ago.
  4. My son just shot a 5 pointer, at 23 yards. Right through the aorta, 30 yard recovery.
  5. Congrats grow! I thinks it's great, you helping people out. My son just text me. He just took a 5 pointer. He donated it. These nextbook's take a little getting use to.
  6. All our 3d decoys are in the shed. Haven't been out in years. We have had some luck with the Montana flat buck decoy. Placed on a brush line entrance, some of the bucks have stopped long enough to get an arrow sent their way.
  7. Time to make the snow man decoy grow. Of coarse, snow men are all wet, LOL. Good luck with the deer hunting. Hope to see a pic of your harvest soon!
  8. I' ve hunted the state and federal preserves by me a few times. I go way in for a few miles. Always try to get elevated, cause you never know who's out there. Chances are, most stay closer to the roads, but it only takes one.
  9. This boys can get a little to close sometimes.
  10. Got out late this morning. 6am.. Deer didn't show till 7:10. Still after the acorns after yesterdays wind. Not many on the ground that I see, but they are finding them under the leaves. Had a beauty of a 4 pt. with a large frame walk 30 some yards upwind. He acted like he didn't have a care in the world,. Would of shot him just for the 70 or so pounds of usable meat he was carring, if only he was an 8. Looked like only a 2 1/2 year old. Hope to find his sheds next March.
  11. They like to harvest shelled corn when the moisture content is 22% or less. Propane cost cut in pretty good on $3.71 a bushel corn over that. Also some combines tend to damage kernals more at higher moistures. The exception would be cob corn mix for the silo, where a higher moisture content is needed.
  12. My sons at one of our farms, where precip. stopped around 7. I'm at the other where it's rain- snow mix. He's seeing buck movement and other sittings. I'm drawing a blank. Came in to let thing simmer, then back out again when rain lets up.
  13. Sat all but 2 hours of daylight today. Deer moved early, before legal light, then around 1 oclock. Fawns, doe early. Nice buck came in at 100. Bump a beauty in the alfalfa field on the way in. Caught a good wif of his scent glands. Very strong smell. The hind legs, on the ones I've seen close are dark, right down to hoof.
  14. Sometimes, the number can grow right along with the antler size, LOL.
  15. Yeah, it's tough this time of year. All my spare times been in the field.
  16. Enjoy! The double nickle club is so much fun, LOL.
  17. Nice to see Long Island joining in on some of the fun, along with the rest of New York! No doubt, they have many areas to mature in there. Is getting a hunting spot difficult?
  18. Deer were out early, here this morning. Maybe, ahead of the rain.
  19. Another nice windy, mid day sit. Not 5 minutes on the stand, doe worked their way out of the thickets into two op shooting lanes. What better way to get a buck down front and center with live decoys. Nice little 4 pt. had to stop by to say hello, then moved towards the corn where, no doubt, to do some serious deer ho down. Deer are doing some serious mid day traveling. Don't miss it people!
  20. The propositions were on the back of the ballot. Wonder how many people forgot to vote on them? Was this done for a purpose?
  21. Just got back from voting. Had a line this late. They say it's been a good turnout.
