How big are poults right now?

A couple pick of 2 hens with poults. Take a guess which ones are the poults? -
Went out to another nice day. A nice buck fawn started my hunting adventure coming into the oak woods for his daily breakfast. Mother and the babies got the hankering for nuts on their corn flakes also. Weather wise, cooling off nicely with a splattering of showers.

I 've replaced one dummy for another for 2 seasons now, LOL. After getting the idea from growalots orange dummy hunter figures. The deer still notice something isn't quite right in that stand when I'm in it. Maybe it's scent or movement or just a different shape. I call it " Deer Logic."

Got to within 50 yards of a buck. Long story short, I ran out of legal light. Nice night for stalking, if the wind is played right.

Corn field looks like a good setup tonight with a south wind. Drying down nicely. They should be in there. It's time for minus one doe!

Yes indeed, sure is nice out. Out in the shirt sleeves this morning. Beautiful red sky. The sailors must be taking warning.

Good story! I'm getting survival gear together, for just this sort of possibility. Some nice dry matches, a good tracker knife, and some other handies can sure mean a positive outcome for an overnight stay in the woods.

I enjoy the mild temperatures. Get rid of the coveralls and go back to lighter gear again. With temps. getting in the 70's tomorrow, I may even pull a wooly.

The mature hens will be taking their young and loosing them soon, if they haven't already. You could be seeing the young from other areas for wintering. If you have slips and heavier wooded areas, this is where turkey will ditch their young., to winter in. Turkey, with young ( size of their mothers) are still in our area, but they will be leaving around the 16th, as they do every year. They have already moved into heavier leaved areas, from their summer roosting grounds.

I don't ever see a normal, when it comes to turkey, LOL. Anything is possible!

Chose the Concords, they have nice flavor. I had 3 generation of deer 11 yards out. Big old doe, her 16 month old fawns, and their fawns from this year. Ever have deer just to close to draw? What a terrific morning!

It's against the law to search for a deer with a dog in NYS..! Deer Search and only them can legally use a dog to track deer.

Another good day in the corn. Deer walking through shooting lanes early. Had to sit and bare it. This ripening corn really attracts them.

That is a good question for NY. DEC. They don't isolated reservation land out of the regional maps. There's that gray area again.
-
The deer cannot be transport onto NYS land. The carcass stays on reservation land. My friends father processed the deer on his piece of land. I then transported some of the meat. I did give a large portion to their family.

I hunting Reservation land with a good friend of mine, some years ago. I needed to meet the chief and get his written permission what day (s) I would be on my friends land along with a NYS hunting license, not that it was needed, because it's not part on NYS., but I believe he wanted to know I had the experience. I also carried my NYS hunting license, just in case for my sake. I also knew a lot of friends on the reservation, which may have helped my chances.
