By time I get done going through all the meat with little to no fat and silver skin on it, the neck meat doesn't get as clean as i like to see it. Most likely the fat, a thin layer always forms at the top of the water.

I have to cook neck meat in the crock pot outside. MY wife says it stinks up the house.

Everyone else give you advise; now it's my turn, LOL. If you live in an area where "you" think deer numbers deserve a rebound, don't shoot a doe.

its not about just shooting a deer

I agree 100% about the season. -
On my wont to do list is to make a smoker out of an older kitchen oven. Racks are already in place and just add the water soaked oak woodlets.

We are taking our doe decoys, which has in storage for several years out this afternoon to see if this will shake things up a bit.

The DEC.found the answer to your question with doe only areas in Lake Plains and 9F areas last year, during first two weeks of bow and muzzleloader season. Very few. Season is back to where it should be; thanks to the hunting community overwhelming strong support against.

Saw deer a few minutes after 7 this morning when the wind dropped. Got hammered by a cold shower while coming up. Feels like the temps are falling. I overdressed yesterday and underdressed today, LOL.

Deer were out of the corn field hours ago, Just sitting absorbing the day. You all should feel this beautiful sunshine on this last day of November. Enjoying the large flock of robins landing in the corn field along with morning doves and an occasional wood cock.

No way Niagara County has bucks that big, LOL.

I'm going to buy more orange today.

The chances of getting shot are there every time one ventures out hunting. I don't know the percentages, but it's there. Wearing hunter orange can only lower the percentage; that again, I don't know. how much, but surely the percentage lower significantly. With the shootings and deaths across the state this hunting season; lower that percentage for yourself, wear orange! -
Nice balmy sit on 11-28 eve. Seen some deer; watched squirrels caring ears of corn back to their nest. Still seeing morning doves and wood cock. Another mild years end like last year? This morning was a woods hunt. Great wind to get in quiet with. Reminded me of a May turkey hunt with the balmy weather continuing. Nothing this morning, but it sure felt great sitting there.

Nice frosty morning, SE breeze here also. So nice to have a more relaxed environment again. Most of the shoot'em up squad has gone back to work here. Now, we hunt!

Far better to loose a little deer hunting season than to live by a very limited diet and suffer through tons of agony . Just keep an eye for the nearest bathroom for a while till you find out what you can and can't eat. Fatty foods will be your worst enemy your future. Ex lax will never be needed again, LOL.

We continued our tracking efforts several farms over. By the look of the blood where the deer first stopped, one would have thought that animal laid not far from the stop area. We had to do many half circles just to regain the dry blood on leaves and brush. We would find good blood, then down to barely a drop or two. I began to think a stomach or liver hit, but no evidence of bedding. We worked right up till dark, using blood tracking flashlights. We backed out just after dark, marking the spot well. My cousin, that shot the deer is about sick over the whole thing. I continue to regain his composure, and show him that when a deer is shot, give it all you got till every last ditch effort is exhausted. Will go back in the morning and hope that not to mach rainfall over night falls.

In blood tracking mode since 7:40 am. this morning. In about a mile and a half. I got a couple good lucks from two hunters, so far that offered to lend a hand if needed.

One of our family members got a nice 30 yard shot Sunday afternoon at what was believed to be a 4 point buck. Upon field dressing, he discovered it was actually an antlered doe. Spike on one side and three points on the other. As we we loading it, it shed the spike. Knowing very little on the subject, I did some digging and came up with some interesting facts. It caused by Endocrine Imbalance which can be caused by to much body fat, chemical fert. and or bisphenol -A (bpa) a chemical found in plastic. One in 4500 doe are antlered. Most never loose the velvet on the antlers. This one is hard horned. Nothing was mentioned about shedding as this one already did. Some questions I have: 1. Do these doe have reproductive organs and are able to have fawns. 2: Do they act like other normal doe or bucks? In only seeing them online, it is really great seeing one in person. I will post some picks when feeling come back into my hands, LOL.

I counted 30 some ever since last week of October. They flew in from Canada showing me their passports as they flew by. I was stepping on small grasshoppers jumping around on Friday with temps in the low 70"s.
