Radish seed is running $110/ bushel. I see where they want $3.50/ lb in smaller quantities. Purple tops are about the same price. Buckwheat $20. -
Encouraging private land being opened to general hunting
landtracdeerhunter replied to Doc's topic in General Hunting
Just reading the replies here, their is no clear cut easy answer to Doc's post. Peoples attitudes have changed so much since I remember from back in the 60"s and 70's. It use to be a pleasure to greet a neighbor or a occasional city foe, while hunting on your farm. They were welcomed on our place and we welcomed on their's. -

Tax breaks would only work for some. Show me some gold, then we'll talk. -
That must have been some boyfriend grow. Wait a minute, that wasn't Mr B ? LOL.

Leave some flour out in a sealed container for months on the counter. A surprise awaits you, LOL. Cooking kills the eggs, most of the time. Old unopened boxes of cereal can can yield some interesting wiggle little things. Our root cellar has moths in it this time of year. The cool air attracts the little buggers. Bats in the belfry, LOL.

I made some buckskin leather out of deer hides, but not strong enough for the purpose intended. I bought a roll on a flea market for pennies on the dollar, but pretty much used up now. I've purchased some 8 and 10 oz cow hide leather from a company up in the New York ; the name escapes me at the moment. A ll online. It ain't cheap. It is good leather and fast turn around. I have been looking for local people for two years now and seems like a lost art. Don't do to much and my work is rather crude right now. Try buying some bulk scrap pieces to try your hand on. Yhis is what I did, not out much money if you screw it up. I made small change purses to start, then moved up. They sell for fair money and seem to be popular.

From what I have witnessed over the years in our flat lands, Doe with fawn will bed near or right in food sources. My red clover grass mixed hay fields are loaded with bedding areas with mom and baby(ies) when I cut. This, I believe is why buck visits are limited in the area during the summer months. Doe keep the buck at distance. Once the hay is harvested, deer change their patterns until new growth emerges. Then Doe and young'ins come in for a good source of protein, round two. This years born deer will bed in new growth, Mothers tend not to be as trustworthy. Once my carrot, radish, and oat mixtures come to life, the pattern changes once again, all bets are off. Thus, food sources have a good deal of influence on bedding. True scouting of bedding areas should partake all year long to get a good assessment of what actually takes place in a particular area..

We just missed the 5:15 one but had a 10 minute thunder storm soaker at 10:30 and another at 11:40 am. . The last one had bb size hail and 7/10 ." Smells fresh out after this rain. Every things looks a little greener.

Heavy storm went south of us at 5:15 am.. Dust blew, seen gray as the tarp blew by and the power just came back on. Roads have dried now and muggy.

Last time we had something fall out of the sky; my car suffered small dents. What is rain? I've seen frogs fall from the sky in Peoria as we were running to go underground.

Did you go on the " Maid Of The Mist" boat ride? The fireworks over the Canadian side are breathtaking. Believe they are on Saturday nights. -

Sporting a nice rack with a long developed head. Would be a nice archery harvest, with a good start to filling the freezer. -
Every time I walk into the Cabela store on Walden, I look up at those poles. I know you installed them, LOL.

Hang you flags high folks. May the freedom bells ring! Enjoy your celebrations and be safe. -
They say these burn at about 1200 degrees..

Niagara County made it legal to buy sparklers(?) and shoot off last year. I counted 4 tents selling fireworks in a 4 mile stretch between Millersport and Lockport on route 78. The first being just a mile from Erie County. I never heard some much noise as I did last night. For sparklers, they sure make a bang.

Just had a storm roll through with pounding dime size hail and flooding rain. Little tough getting pics when getting pounded in the head, but you get the idea. Ouch, that stings!

Sitting in the Targets newly paved parking lot on Transit watching a big flag a top of a tall pole waving in front of Kohl's made me think; wonder if Red installed that one. Don't really know what this has to do with concerts, LOL.

I have pull up and filled my 150 gallon tank mount on my pickup when we have gas points there. Savings can really add up. Of coarse, they make up some with their higher grocery prices.

I enjoyed Dr. Woods appearances on Drury's Outdoors Wild & Fair Chase videos. He's sure has stepped it up on his own show. Been a fan of his for many many years. As others have said, I have emailed him several times with always a return from him and his staff.
