I personally have no use for coyotes. I am an opportunist when it comes to killing them, and to be honest I just assume they go die somewhere other than where they are shot. My hunting passion is whitetail. I think when it comes to any area with predators, the more predators there are the more alert the whitetail population becomes which reduces opportunities to harvest deer. I do know a few guys who enjoy hunting coyotes and could care less about whitetail and that is ok too. Especially since they're my neighbors so it works out for both of us. I say good luck to anyone who is in a hunting contest and I would love to see the pictures of your kills.

I have a 10 year old standard poodle. Great family dog, good at retrieving, but very skittish. If she hears a noise she will run you over to get back to the truck or car. Also very vocal about her wants. Typical traits of the breed. The worst part about taking her out is grooming her afterwards, everything sticks in her hair. She is also black so very hard to check for ticks. We just got a chocolate labradoodle and so far retrieves well, very curious about everything she sees and hears. Doesn't run away from loud noises which is good.Likes to bring back limbs from trees 3 times her size. And releases when told to. Loves to play ball. My old poodle has taught her to watch out the window for squirrels in the back yard. Took less than 2 weeks to train to ring a bell to go potty outside. Already scatters the birds at the bird feeder out back. We will see where she goes with hunting, time will tell.

I used winchester amercan whitetail 150 grain for my .270 and do not like them at all. On paper they are accurate .I have now killed 6 deer with that gun and ammo combo. 1 dropped in its track from breaking his spine. Other 5 ran and had to be tracked. Little to no blood trail, and only 1 pass through. This year hit a nice buck opening morning, believe 9 point with split brow tine, again little specs of blood and ended up not recovering him. It was very disappointing. I switched to my trusted and true 12 gauge 870 for the rest of the season. For next year if I use my .270 I am gonna swith ammo but I still am unsure what I am gonna use. I want a bullet to be as damaging as possible from that gun. Minimal meat damage is nice, but useless when the deer isn't recovered

One could argue a gut shot deer is torture. For example, Mr. Jones gutshot that deer so it would die a long painful death. His intent was not a humane death, even though it isn't so. I agree, what the kids did was not ethical to me, but criminal charges against them could mean criminal charges against someone who does accidentally gutshoot a deer is what I fear could happen .

What these kids did to that deer is appalling to me. However I am not sure I agree with criminal charges based on a humane or inhumane killing. The video recording of it is what disturbs me the most. This case has already been used against us hunters, regardless that we do not agree with the kids actions, or we do not want to call them hunters. If these kids are found guilty I believe it can be used against the hunting community more. As stated already, with trapping, alot of critters get "stomped" or hit in the head with a club, or slitting a deer's throat. Is letting a deer gutshot lay over night inhumane aince it wasn't dispatched quickly? It all seems unethical and inhumane to someome and I do not like leaving decisions up to someone elses common sense or feelings

Glad you stuck to your rules and consiquences for their actions. Too little of that now a days. I can say when I was young I certainly gave my parents hell. During my teen years my father and I fought about everthing and didn't see eye to eye on nothing, however hunting and fishing always seemed to bring some peace between both of us. I am greatful he never used those 2 things as leverage. Now 25+ years later we are like best friends. My biggest disappointment this year would be my fathers inability to get out in the woods with me. He still hunts but close to the house instead of deep in the woods chasing them like we use to. Just wasn't the same this year.

Congrats on the new puppy. My wife has been wanting another dog too but I told her no way. So we compromised and got a puppy last week. She is a 13 week old chocolate labradoodle.

Check the 7r area, good land and deer population is good. Also 8y and 8w. Property values are low, plus near the fingerlakes which offers alot of family activities

There are not any deer in steuben county.

This is my 25th season deer hunting in ny and opening day of gun season is my favorite. Here I sit 24 hours before legal shooting time and already got the bubble guts.

I have used caton meat market in pine city the past few years. This year I used cooley in alpine cause I wanted some bacon cheddar burger made. And Cooley ring bologna is excellent.

I always get cold on stand. Usually numb by the time I get out of my stand, but I love hunting and keep going out for more

1rst time out saturday November 2nd. I couldn't bow hunt this year do to a broken wrist. Been rough. At 830 am had this 8 point come threw. Had a small window to shoot and when he walked in I shot.Waited till 9 to track. While waiting had a 5 point walk by. Had good blood but then faded. While looking for blood seen another buck chasing a doe. Watched for about 5 minutes until they were out of sight. Tracked my buck for about 3 hours when I seen him laying down looking away from me. Shot him again. He went about another 100 yards and I found him dead. First shot was a little behind and caught gut. 2nd shot was in the back looking away but lunged him

I planted some antler king throw and grow last year in 2 different spots. Neither took, maybe it was my fault, I don't know, but I will not buy it again. I have better results with bulk seed. My spots I used white and ladino clover, buckwheat, and winter rye did very well.

Nobody likes the first guy to mow their lawn. Peer pressure makes the rest of us have to do it now, lol

I agree 100 percent, there are good and bad taxidermist out there, just like everything else, that is why I want to look now so I can be prepared come deer season in case one is needed. I would rather pay for a good quality job than settle for subpar work and save a few bucks. I had my other taxidermist do 2 deer for me 8 and 6 years ago and am still pleased. It is a memory for me on the wall to enjoy for the rest of my life, and I do not want to regret who I choose that is why I starting to look now.

We started looking toward New Hampshire but the whitetail population is low. We plan on heading to eastern Kentucky by the west Virginia boarder this summer to check that out. Wife says 3 to 5 years and we are leaving ny.
