  1. I disagree with your assumptions. Compound bow hunting maybe a way for you to challenge yourself in the woods, and it may take you months of practice to get it correct, but not all. It takes skill to perfect any weapon of choice. I have a friend of mine who can outshoot me all day long with a compound, but can not shoot a gun if his life depended on it and that's ok. It is not easier to get a second shot off with a crossbow than a compound. Nobody is lobbying to allow crossbow in gun because it is already allowed. Now for conspiracy theories allowing crossbows could limit gun usage. Antigun activists could use that to their advantage. I hunted with recurve/compound, a compound, muzzleloader, shotgun, and rifle. Everyone and season brings its own set of challenges. How you hunt, and where you hunt is different for us all. I would like to see crossbow added to archery because an archery course should be necessary, and we need to keep people interested in hunting. Using a crossbow instead of a compound does not make someone less of a hunter, or unwilling to put in the time. That attitude creates division in the hunting community and weakens our rights moving foward.
  2. I am willing to keep an eye on anyone's camp in 8y for hunting rights. Hopefully I can help someone out
  3. It is a good thing. More people interested in hunting and safety course required.
  4. Ny state has enough restrictions that are not enforced. I am not for increase size or less bag limits. I don't ice fish but I do target pan fish in the spring. I do not limit out but if someone does, good for them. If population is down the biggest impact would be to close season during spawning but again not enough enforcement. Kinda like catch and release bass guys out hitting beds in May. We go to Black lake every year. Well see and speak to more guys targeting bass during our time up there than anything else. We watch guys using spinner baits, and rubber worms casting into sure and under docks. If caught the excuse is always the same.
  5. I plow with my 2017 pioneer. One of the main reasons I bought it. It beats shoveling. I agree there are limitations do to the machines weight. I also use my snowplow for food plot work, and clearing in the spring. I would be more leery of a machine that someone used for weekend trail riding with their buddies.
  6. I disagree with almost everything you post about politics. But you got this one right, especially the first sentence. I do not look foward to gas price increases though.
  7. I am gonna pass on the vaccine. I will not be getting the vaccine because, to be honest I am not scared of getting the virus. The fear the virus has caused on our society so far concerns me more. We as Americans have allowed the government to take away our individualism, livelihood, families, faith, and independence. I feel complying allows the government to continue to take from us, and future generations. At what point do we say enough.
  8. It can always be worse that is for sure.
  9. I want a dog I can train. Hunt, track, ect.
  10. The Sunday after Thanksgiving we had to put our 14 month old labradoodle down due to cancer. We have a 10 year old standard poodle. We are gonna be in the market for a new puppy in the early spring. Not sure yet which kind. We have had 4 dogs total over the last 20 years. The 2 listed above, a snoodle, and a beagle. Biggest factor for us is little kid friendly. Leaning toward lab, but not sure. With some of what people have said on here, perhaps a gsp but really know nothing about them. As a kid , my family had a bassett, and a redbone which were really good dogs. If over the next few months anyone has pups I maybe interested. Thought this could be a good place to begin looking.
  11. See that was gonna be my suggestion. Just gotta get em loaded and gutted quick.
  12. Kill every deer you see on the property, then move on. The deer population decline and lack of sightings by him may help him find another hobby.
  13. I am not seeing the deer where I usually do. I like ridge tops but haven't seen deer there. No nuts around me. Mostly seeing deer lower on the hills this year.
  14. The one buck rule makes people feel it would be easier to kill a mature buck, but also lessens the trophy, just like bow hunter elites feel about crossbow or gun. I like the way ny is currently with plenty of opportunities and different seasons. If any part of the season was extended I would prefer later in winter over September.
  15. I wouldn't call again. Buck make decent people do stupid things. Oh well lesson learned. There is still a bigger buck running around, but I had this one patterned prior to heavy rut but knew I had to wait for gun to get him because of his pattern. During rut he left chasing does. I waited till Thanksgiving to go after him figuring the shooting would bring him back to his core area. I seen him thanksgiving evening but had no shot with a shotgun. Yesterday evening I got closer and sat in the brush waiting and he showed but oh well, guess I will try for another Sorry I don't have a good picture of him, just off one of my cameras I have out to catch people trespassing
  16. Yes, same deer. Tracked to gut pile. When I found the pile I went back down the hill. Went to his house and he said he got him this morning, kinda bummed, especially since never heard shot. Deer was maybe 300 yards from where I shot him. I had called him last night to let him know I was gonna be heading toward his property to find the deer in the morning and where I was coming from so there wouldn't be an issue. We have a mutual agreement if you shoot something we can retrieve, just call first.
  17. Yes I know, right now I do have permission so didnt argue, just let it be.
  18. Neighbor says he shot him this morning. Blood trail went to his property. I don't know, blood was heavy from last night, and unlikely to live through the night Pics of blood in the woods
  19. I live on 2 acres i own and lease 50 acres out my back door from a timber company. I have the land without a mortgage is the way I look at it. Works nice for me. And having a powerline right of way on it makes a natural funnel, so the hunting is pretty good
