  1. Not everyone has a relative to get someone into hunting. Not all people start hunting at a young age. And as far as DEC goes they're shorthanded already and do not have the time to do their job now. It would ne nice if parents and relatives got children envolved more with outdoor activities. I did plan ahead and got my kids into their hunting safety course early, but there were several available, maybe because of my location. I also get told hunting maybe a problem for me, lol. I would like to see N.Y. state have a game service, much like other states, not just DEC, but all cost money. I like that N.Y. states safety course is recognized by other states too, so something must be right.
  2. In July and August there probably isn't as much interest being more people don't think that far ahead. When September comes hunting season is on more peoples mind. Probably get better turn out.
  3. If I remember correctly the hunter safety course is free. I don't believe anyone makes money on the course. I think it is great people volunteer their time for others.
  4. You put out of state registration in machine when you do inspection.
  5. I dont think so, look at marking on nose
  6. 2nd one is the one I like the best, look at those brow tines
  7. Pretty deer. How many acres of land are required by ny state to have a deer or elk farm? Not interested in starting one, just curious.
  8. I keep my gun and crossbow across my lap whenever in stand, or sitting on the ground. With my bow its across my lap with my release hooked up. The only time it isn't like that is when I stand to stretch, or go to the bathroom. You never know when an opportunity may present itself and I like to be ready
  9. I bought a honda pioneer this winter. I drove the Polaris ranger 570. I liked it but the reviews were not great so I did not buy. Checked the can am defender. Nice and plenty of power but way too big for what I wanted and more coin then I was willing to spend. Test drove the Yamaha Viking. Nice, but again too big and I thought it was noisy. Went with the Pioneer 500 cause of the shaft drive, manual automatic transmission, and not wider then a 4 wheeler. I will say it is governed at 40 mph though, ground clearance is only 10 inches with factory wheels, and tipsy on a side hill so definitely has downsides.
  10. Honda has auto, manual options for the transmission. Also shaft driven instead of belt system. The only negative I have heard on the can am is too much power which tears up cv joints, but I believe its more how they are used and abused.
  11. Where you catching 9 inch blue gills?

  14. Found baby deer leg bones in my clover plot tonight, and some good piles of poop on the edges. Have seen 2 different does using it. One has single fawn and other has 2.
  15. In 1977, it bought Hesston, a hay equipment company, and Fiat gained access to the U.S. market. Ford and Sperry New Holland merged in 1986, and that company was acquired by Fiat in 1991. That same year, Fiat sold Hesston to AGCO. In 1999, Fiat bought Case and the new agricultural division became CNH.
  16. I have heard New Holland are work horses without comforts of others. Weren't they Ford's?
  17. Grey fox it is. Thanks everybody
  18. Thats what I was thinking too.

  21. Did you stretch its lips? That will get an extra half inch
  22. I spread on top and run overwith side by side. I don't own equipment to do it another way. I used the snowplow on my machine to clean the areas out this spring. Mowed them with a walk behind strind trimmer, drag a 17 inch truck tire with bolts through it and filled with an 80lb bag of concrete. Then use a walk behind seed spreader to spead seed and fertilizer. Will have to wait and see how it works
  23. I would not shoot one cause I only have seen one in my area. I also remember as a kid seeing a all white buck in my area. In an area I hunt now there is a deer I call sox. His legs from the middle down are all white, kinda cool.
  24. Mowed another spot yesterday, and broadcasted more buckwheat.
