  1. I agree about 4 bucks an acre over imo. But my taxes are 7k so I assume your paying the taxes
  2. It's not that your losing land people just want compensation..
  3. It's a big property and has a large duck area.. I just cant see taking 7k worth of game off it. Even with 10 guys
  4. The last property is 2 away from me. It needs to have about 3 million coon and dozens of coyotes removed. It's where they all come from after I eliminate all the ones by me.. neighbor use to be buffer but he died and no one does anything there anymore as well. Sad
  5. Savage make a cheap over and under condor I believe. Check big box store to see if they carry them
  6. No on a preserve no license required.
  7. Depends if your planting dwarf, semi dwarf or standard.. I usually.plant semi, at 10 to 15 ft apart. I do a 5ft 2 x4 in welded fence that is only 8in to 1 ft in diameter. Staked . I really only protect the trunk amd.let limbs stick thru The main leader is protected and will keep growing to 20 to 25 ft. I leave.fence on. Till 4 or 5 in in diameter and.prune all lower limbs off below 5 ft when it establishes itself above 5 ft. ( I do this because I want to mow under them and shoot under them ..) if you have larger bucks in area you may want to leave fence on longer .( I had a buck rub a 5in diameter tree last year..pissed me off ) In fall you need to pull all the tall grass from around base so mice/ voles dont chew trunk..the 2x4 fencing let's weasel and other predators help keep rodents away as well
  8. One reason I hate hunting in snow, that and people. Shoot to far and dont look to see if they hit something or not, they misjudge where deer was see tracks no blood and turn around.. always find more dead deer when it snows than seasons with no snow
  9. Yes it kills wind and repetitive noise( background)
  10. I get quality whitetails thru my qdma membership, Turkey call thru my nwtf membership, and I get nys conservationist .. of the three I rarely open Turkey call.. qdma from time to time, and I do read conservationist from cover to cover.. whitetail news from whitetail institute is a good mag that I read when I get it free with seed order.
  11. Buy 1in diameter trees, apple or pear and fence them. Chestnut are good but hard to find in large diameter and a late frost can kill them 1st few years
  12. Heavy dew in the am is just as good if not better
  13. For those interested!if your headed down PM me and we can meet up for a drink or two.
  14. I go asap. But I have seen where there are a bunch not given out and the last people to apply.all seem to get.one.. idk I get.my landowners so it's all really care about my.2nd choice is usually for a friend in area with lots of permits
  15. I know the feeling 2k plus photos a week on single cams.. sucks
  16. It most likely broke in velvet , friend shot one here few years ago bent back and down and grew back up..
  17. Yes makes a lot.more sense..well not really but glad you got some ag tire on it now, you will notice a huge difference immediately. ( take it easy turning on your lawn they will tear it up quick)
  18. Yep that's hop hornbeam grows on compacted soils, lot of old pasture land. Blue beech is just as tough.
  19. Wheat, clover planted mid to late august..
  20. Loaded front tires?? Wow.. sorry they gave you run around..
  21. Game ears ( basically hearing aids with decible cut out) can work wonders for many and improve their hunting no matter the style of hunting they do
  22. The game ears cut out sound above a certain decible, like gunshots.. I have good hearing and play with one many times amazing what they can pick up on top of my "good hearing" . Thick cover only allows me to see 50 yards max mostly 25 or so yards.. hearing plays a much bigger role in that kind of cover..
  23. I know many born with good ears that worked and lost some hearing in one or both, some on this site I've hunted with cant pin point a Turkey as well as they should do to hearing loss. Hearing has given away more game than seeing them has.. usually hear then look to see what made sound.. if your worried about a blind spot your ears can cover that.
  24. Imo Get a set of Walker type game ears , you will hear many more deer before you see them.
  25. Nice job,I just buy the plastic and have my name printed right on them last years...
