  1. Reliant peach is only one that will grow here and must be protected from.direct wind
  2. Cleared about 2/3 of an acre of brush on new piece . This is 1st step, next will be clearing surface trash by spraying vegetation killer, followed by a leveling/filling of holes from removed tree stumps and brush. , last planting of some wi clover and then 16 apple, pear ,peach trees.
  3. I would.pass opening day for the rest of season easy, I've killed bigger aand more deer 2nd and 3rd day of the season cant think of last time I killed something opening day
  4. Had this pop up as one of my memories.. thought I'd share it here.. Sneak into the woods its so dark but i'm late, Find a good tree to sit next to to await this mornings fate. Turkeys gobbling at the dawn, Woodland creatures sing along. crow flies over and wakes the world, it doesn't seem to care if it's heard. Woodpecker knocking on the tree, I think a porkupine just shit on me!!
  5. Latest I've seen one ..well by default was April 15th as it was laying on the lawn April 16th.and wasn't there the evening before..
  6. Congrats I have a 300 savage but have been looking for one in .308 as well..someday..
  7. Personally I think a Sunday opening would be the correct compromise. No rush to get to camp fri night early sat am, sat time to visit shop, support local fundraisers and events as well as camp chores and comroderie. No school games or cant miss practices as that is a big problem for many students or they work part time on sat. Sunday hunt!!! .pa still doesnt allow Sunday hunting so that will still cause a huge problem . Opening day sat..then no hunting and then hunt again mon?? Almost a second opening day! When ny went to eat opening they had previously opened hunting on sundays 1st.

    Youth Hunt

Glad you have a kid to take out, poor timing this year with Easter weekend being the same as youth hunt. Many are away on vacation and others just have other commitments due to the holiday. Will be 1st year I havent had youth in many. Kids just to busy ...
  9. Depends where you go. I have a friend that come to a vet out by me because he is 60% cheaper than his old vet in orchard park. For same services
  10. Pa.shuts schools for.opening day..they didnt have a kid hunting problem because kids were off to go hunt..
  11. Had my tags filled with bow before crossbow started.. so I didnt have chance to get one with it..
  12. Their numbers are way off again we took 11% of total take in the town off just my property??? 18 deer of 157... I believe the town is 7 miles x 14 miles.. or 62720 acres I have 300 acres.. or .5% of total land mass.. crazy numbers dont add up...
  13. I like spring just to much to do.. just finished chopping corn, still dropping aspen trees , trying to get equipment ready for plowing. Winter and summer I could live with out.. to cold and too hot..
  14. Gly is fine just dont spray it on yourself, been around for.30 years.. a d dont eat what you spray with it..
  15. Construction place I worked at worked fri late or the sat before so they were shut down for Monday opening ..still got work done and employees were happy
  16. There were more hunters when it was Monday. It seemed , now everyone in rush fri evening to get to camp. Not as enjoyable at all. Some use to come fri night, some sat , some sunday.. some.would have to run home to get something they forgot before monday.. kids aren't using sat to hunt as they have practice or work themselves on weekend and if they miss practice coaches dont let them play..so I do not.see benefit of sat.opener like they wanted.
  17. I still prefer the Monday opening. Made a lot of money for little town the weekend before.
  18. https://www.ydr.com/story/news/2019/04/09/pa-game-commission-votes-move-deer-rifle-season-opener-saturday/3402149002/?fbclid=IwAR0yiqtWRHEMxOAC4il4xDBuaNxV5NJ3I6Ob9O-FNMlo2CuNe2fDEucxXaM
  19. In an area with high doe ratio I expect they keep cycling until bred so his testosterone stays high. It seems if buck hold their horns for long time they do not have as big of rack the following year as they do not rebuild their bodys and are in a constant state of rut un like a buck that sheds and rebuild his fat reserves..
  20. Neighbor has been digging leeks since Feb can smell them a mile.away when he digs them up..
  21. I'd fix that ford up it's more than you will ever need..
  22. Nope havent gotten to that field yet.. using bulldozer there end of may/june this is opposite corner from where you sat for bow and saw huge doe
  23. Sick and tired or driving around the property and thru a bunch of spring seeps..was able to acquire new property that has high and dry access to my hidden. Field so I spent most of the winter cutting trees and brush out. Today got to push it all out of the way and cut stumps flush with ground...my.new road is ready.for plowing season .looking in from field.looking out to field out to road in from road
