Take both your staying in the country . Then do what guide recommends if he has a bow spot like a wallow then try bow, if its field hunting you will want the gun.

There are quite a few outfitters mostly bear and deer but i found a couple for pronghorn, surprisingly lots of actual vendors selling calls stands clothes and products compared to last time in was there. Couple of years ago. I would say it actually improved from my last attendance

While this is true you also have a bunch of taxidermist working and some are more skilled than others. Most customers will not pick up ears that aren't set quite properly,or eyes ,or nostrils cut to short and plugged poorly with clay, stitching behind the head , hide stretched ,form not quite the right size ( to big hide is stretched ,to small and its gathered and looks not quite right) If you start with a decent taxidermist and then win a mount from a great taxidermist. Nothing hits home like putting them both on the wall and realizing you can never hang them together as the 1st one will look awful in a side by side but looks fine alone... I good taxidermist will limit what they take in as they do not want quality to suffer , same as a butcher who shuts down because they are full and can handle no more efficiently

As land owners I'm surprised many of you know little of your woods and methods used to maintain and propagate them.thru timber harvest and. Manangement,, Before you log , or even if you just bought what is considered free ed a disaster someone else logged I seriously urge you look into joining the nys forest owners association in your area. Vast knowledge is given at the meetings as well as how to apply and implement programs at state, county and federal level on your land.. at worst use a forester . Many of you belong to nwtf, or a qdma branch these groups have on staff foresters who can assess and implement programs on your property for free!! As part of your membership( a great perk from joining) our forests will only improve thru education of their owners..

That is a great method for tree regrowth removing the tops is highly destructive and discouraged, of you wanted trails left open it should of been worded in contract.
-
Take a machete and hack your striped maple and then in the cut you simple squirt a tree brush killer this let's you cover acres quickly and no. Regrowth to the tree from stump. The method is called hack and squirt. I have acres of brambles. Deer and bear love em only.live 3 to 5 years and are shaded out. https://youtu.be/TglNG-yjabU
-
Bramble is good ,as long as it's not multiflora rose. striped maple isnt. Hack and squirt.
-
Try future forestry 585 374 2799 they are in your area and will do a money, habitat or timber harvest or a combination. Removing the bad trees is more important than taking just the good ones
-
A clear cut is not devastation. It's a good thing most New York woods are hy graded.. clear cut allows diversity to return. It may not look nice to you but to game its is a housing and food bonanza

A nice place to visit.. to many bugs snakes and alligators for me to live....

Growing Dunstan Chestnuts
G-Man replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
You may want to place a fan on the growing trees and move it often so the "wind" comes from different directions . They are sprouting early and with out wind they will just grow tall and weak. A wind slows the growth and makes the trunks stronger. Nurseries do this with many plants to acclimate them for better survival when transplanted If they get to tall without support or a strong enough trunk they will snap..or lay down. -
Yep wall and walls of same.crap,no variety.
