Not if you want it to explode on a shot .. another fallacy . Recommend 4 hours max for most manufactures.. always see x bows blowing up on hunting sites every year. . Plus try shooting behing you out of a stand with a crossbow you can lose over 60 degrees of possible shots due to limbwidth. A bow loses maybe 10..

I've set all my stands for broadside or quartering away shot.. plus im left handed really get my friends upset as they are all right handed. They want to "see" the deer coming. Imo your a lot better hunter usuing your ears especially in thick cover

Have you tried one out of your house?? You cant bash them if you havent tried them ,the tv hunting out if a blind with a bench rest is highly unlikely in most ny hunting situation. Lean out of a stand with a crossbow off hand trying to get limbs to clear limbs/ trees.. much more movement than drawing a bow.

Todays lever actions are very accurate and a scope allows you to use that to full potential, these modern levers are not your grandfathers gun.

Young one! Good eating!!

I prefer buck horn as low light makes it hard to use peep esp if hunting. Target is peep is better all day

Got in at 5 am and set up in roost area bird starting gobbling 70 yards down hill from me ,was big tom i wanted. Had hen roosted 20 yards below me and a jake 50 yards up hill. 3 other hens flew down below me and 2 my right , then the dominate hen to my right 40 yards the tom pitched down 10 yards past hen and went into full strut, the jake landed about 35 yards from me but had no visable beard. I had a poke at tom at 50 yards but wasnt comfortable doing so as its a really nice bird and he never came out of strut the jake came to within 20 but i let him join rest of flock as the headed away to the lake. Was a good morning got out before it started raining..

Gotnit done for friend ive been taking out for last few years 1st 2 days of season. Didnt get the big one to come in as he had dominant hen with him. And she pulled him down the hill. We did a quick reposition after walking in roundabout a few hundred yards to get ahead and on same level as flock. Was able to pull a group of jakes away and after 20 minutes of them coming in leaving, calling back in, he was finally able to see a beard on one though they were gobbling . His 2nd bird in 4 years of hunting. Made a great shot, bang and flop... done at 7 am.

I can pin a gobble to within 50 yards up to a half mile away. Hills valleys ravines.. i can tell you what tree it in under 200. Knowing property and features is key, dont believe me can ask taco. .

Target and hunting are 2 different things i know olympic archers that cant hit the broadside of a barn with a deer in front of them..

Public land is great and so many "unknown" parcels of small acerage can be hunted if one puts in the effort to find them 30 % or more of state is public land

2nd one is always more painful than 1st , do the rehab and work hard at it the more you do the better it heals, this is one where working thru the pain is a must..

In my experiance this is the biggest reason for declining populations , since i started trapping coon heavy 4 years ago the population has risen significantly here. https://www.mossyoak.com/our-obsession/blogs/small-game/trapping-coons-and-possums-to-boost-your-turkey-population

Deer and their favorite "food" trees
G-Man replied to Five Seasons's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Idk they eat my peaches pretty quick, but august sept drop, Pears are tops but are early season 10 years or so to produce from whip and sept early oct drop. . As for removing some apples i wouldn't.. some maybe later blossoming ,vs earlier and may produce when there is late frost. An dormant oil spray will take care of most of your diseases and can be sprayed in march or april when you have more time. Sevin can be sprayed after fruit forms about the size of dime to combat white flies but you should of killed most eggs with dormant oil spray. Just prune a few every winter and youll get them under control in few years. As for more hard mast. 25 years for most oaks to produce from whips( nov drop), 3 to 5 years for chestnuts( oct drop) and dont flower till july so no chance of frost kill. Hickory are late season and will usually be eaten after other hard mast is gone though turkey are in them from nut drop to they are gone. -

Plant them your kids will like the lumber sale, need deep fertile soil , they will kill anything under them but a stand of black walnut is a good place for small game .
